Movie Info

After a decade spent with one of television's most important and consistently hilarious families, THE SIMPSONS, cartoonist Matt Groening branched out with this animated science-fiction comedy series. Set in the year 3000 or Y3K, FUTURAMA follows the delivery routes of Phillip Fry, a pizza boy who has awakened 1000 years into the future. He joins the crew of Planet Express Corporation which includes a beautiful cyclops named Leela, a substance-abusing robot named Bender B. Rodriguez, and the

Audience Reviews for Futurama - Volume 1

The first season of FUTURAMA is an exceptionally strong season for the show. Playing like a "Greatest Hits" of sorts for the series, just about all of my favorite episodes of the series (which I had no idea were all a part of the first season due to watching the show exclusively in reruns), are all contained within the first season.

The voice work on the show is exceptional. Billy West shines as a multitude of characters, such as the main protagonist Fry, Professor Farnsworth, and Dr. Zoidberg, amongst others. He's hilarious in all of these roles. Katey Sagal is also outstanding as Lela. The true star of the show, however, is John DiMaggio as the robot Bender. He's given the best of the lines on the show, and he delivers each time, and has made Bender into one of the best animated characters on TV.

The other seasons (and movies) of FUTURAMA are solid, for sure, but the first season is a step above, with some of the most truly memorable episodes of the series.

Futurama comes to DVD!

I think "Futurama" is quite as funny as "The Simpsons". After all, they're both created by Matt Groening, right? Buying this DVD is what got me hooked on this show.

This DVD contains all episodes from Season 1. I have a lot of favorite episodes from this season, which include "Space Pilot 3000", "Hell is Other Robots", "Fry and the Slurm Factory", and "Fear of a Bot Planet".

All I can finally say is if you like "The Simpsons", you'll love "Futurama". And if you don't like either of those shows, in the words of Bender: Bite my shiny metal ass!

Final Score: 100/100 (Awesome)
