Gene Autry is a cavalry scout who is in hot pursuit of the guerilla leader, Wade McQuarrie (Jim Davis), aided in his endeavor by his sidekick Cougar Glaggett (Pat Buttram). Together the pair follow the renegades to a frontier Army post called Gateway, which is under the command of Colonel Middler; frequent Autry costar Gail Davis plays Middler's daughter Dell, while Middler's son Walt is a McQuarrie sympathizer, that is until Dell and Gene are taken captive by the guerillas.
