vashfanatic writes: on Oct 10 2008 06:31 PM Ariel was a male character in the original play, so that's not a gender switch. crossouttheD, the sequel I'm cringing at is Sex and the City 2. Most of the ideas in #3 sound baaaaaaaad... (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 10 2008 06:43 PM Yeah Get Smart was a B movie, no sequel needed. I really like Bill Durham and the sequel sounds stupid and I hope it doesn't happen. Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex would be really cool. Brave New World is great and I love it that Ridley is doing it and it would be cool if Leo starred in it, I saw BODY OF LIES today and I thought it was really good and i have no idea why it got such mixed reviews?!? ledawg1138 writes: on Oct 10 2008 07:27 PM I know little guys like Doctor Strange, Dream, Deadpool, but I don't know a Jonah Hex. And I'm pretty darn embarrased (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 10 2008 07:32 PM In reply to this comment (#2071871) Yeah Jonah isn't really a main stream comic book, he's very cool though. (Reply to this) |

greg_dean_schmitz writes: on Oct 10 2008 08:02 PM Yeah, Jonah Hex was never really popular, and even when he did have his own series, it was back in the 1970s, and as a "cowboy comic", often overlooked because it didn't appeal, perhaps, to the typical superhero fan. I know I never really read Jonah Hex. I know who he is, but that's about it. Vashfanatic: About Ariel's gender... you're correct. I thought the character was female because of the misleading image at the top of the Wikipedia entry: (Reply to this) |

Random_Jake writes: on Oct 10 2008 08:07 PM Quarantine with fresh reviews? Has a good horror flick finally hit the screens? no. of course not....... Who gives the green light to these projects? Tom Thumb? Seriously that just wreaks of failure and stupidity....... (Reply to this) |
|
blattman writes: on Oct 10 2008 09:17 PM I'll agree that Tom Thumb sounds dumb (and even rhymes), but I went into Get Smart expecting to hate it since I love the show so much, but enjoyed it. It wasn't the greatest comedy, but Steve Carrell did a good Max, not Don Adams, he made it his own. Anne Hathaway really channeled Barbara Feldon for 99. The rock won't be needed for the next movie considering the end. (Reply to this) |

laidtowaste writes: on Oct 10 2008 09:41 PM I really want to know if either a) Hollywood is out of ideas or b) target demographics want movies that feature characters with which they are familiar. Every one of these planned projects is either a remake, a super hero/comic book movie, or a novel. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of Jonah Hex, but where is the originality? Every time I see a Weekly Ketchup, this seems to be the one common thread. It's really depressing. I feel like the Hollywood of old is dead. (Reply to this) |

The Vile writes: on Oct 10 2008 09:52 PM so who is Leo going to play in brave new world? I assume the savage but i'm not sure that he's right for it. he'll probably be great, it's just that when i first read that book it was after i'd seen demolition man, so i had the misfortune of picturing stallone as the savage (that movie was sort of inspired by the book). (Reply to this) |

kissman24 writes: on Oct 10 2008 11:57 PM No. No. NO. God no. No more Get Smart. I like Steve Carell, but that movie sucked. Just because a lot of people went to see it doesn't mean that it was any good and/or that people really want a sequel. (Reply to this) |
|
randal1013 writes: on Oct 11 2008 01:25 AM yeah, get smart doesn't warrant a sequel. that was just a one-time thing. leave it alone steve! (Reply to this) |

frothy writes: on Oct 11 2008 06:51 AM In reply to this comment (#2071828) Bull Durham 2 makes about as much sense, on paper, as Slap Shot 2. (I think that even if they'd brought back Newman and others for SS2, it would still have been a needless, contrived idea.) (Reply to this) |
|
jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 11 2008 10:01 AM In reply to this comment (#2072014) Bernard Marx I bet, he would be great! Also am I the only one who has scene BODY OF LIES? Its actually really good. (Reply to this) |
|
cgcbooks writes: on Oct 11 2008 10:04 AM Get Smart made money and that is why there will be a sequel. Case closed. (Reply to this) |

gm1200 writes: on Oct 11 2008 11:40 AM Get Smart was a great comedy. Steve is gold and apparently completely incapable of sucking. Hell, if they get him to play in Sex and the City 2, I might even watch it (please God don't let that happen). Brave New World? Awesome. Brave New World with Leo or Ridley? Grade A garbage. Brave New World with Leo AND Ridley? Movie Armageddon. (Reply to this) |

sunsaz writes: on Oct 11 2008 11:53 AM The thought of Bull Durham 2 makes baby Jesus cry. (Reply to this) |
|
Random_Jake writes: on Oct 11 2008 02:25 PM Get Smart made a lot of people happy. Got the studio some money. Carrel some cash. And some audiences got a kick out of it (I never saw it) so a sequel should have been expected. (Reply to this) |
|
The Vile writes: on Oct 11 2008 03:57 PM In reply to this comment (#2072471) yeah, but marx was meant to be kind of... ugly? he was an alpha but unusually unattractive. isn't Leo meant to be a bit of a heart throb? Plus it's a thankless role. i guess if he's producing it he would try and be the savage, who is by far the more intense character. (Reply to this) |
|
jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 11 2008 04:28 PM In reply to this comment (#2072913) I think Leo does a good job at shaking off the pretty boy image, he did in Body of Lies. Sure he could be the savage, but he could also be Marx I mean they are going to change some things from the book obviously. (Reply to this) |
|
The Vile writes: on Oct 11 2008 04:59 PM In reply to this comment (#2072961) i haven't seen body of lies, but i guess he's pretty good usually. it would only take a slight change in posturing for him to pull off marx. but the savage is the prized role. we'll have to keep an eye on it, but my money is on Leo as the savage (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Oct 11 2008 05:26 PM Couldn't care less about most of the news here. I am looking forward to Ramayan 3392 A.D., Jonah Hex, GL and the Louis Armstrong biopic. (Reply to this) |

Random_Jake writes: on Oct 11 2008 08:10 PM Not to change the subject but am I the only one concerned over the mental health of the critics on this site? I mean Quarantine is generating good reviews here does this not seem unusual to anyone? (Reply to this) |

vagrant_hippo writes: on Oct 11 2008 09:13 PM #3 looks utterly atrocious, even more so by the fact that BioShock and GoW will be adapted--I'm serisouly tired of great games being turned into terrible movies--and BioShock, even though it already has a movie-worthy plot and set-design and such, really shouldn't be turned into fodder for mass-movie consumption--it's too high up for such bad things to happen to it. (Reply to this) |

ledawg1138 writes: on Oct 11 2008 10:06 PM OOOOHHH! Jonah Hex is a cowboy, huh, different. Oh, and "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" stinks, bad. :p (Reply to this) |
|
greg_dean_schmitz writes: on Oct 11 2008 10:51 PM In reply to this comment (#2073342) Yep. Imagine Josh Brolin with the Two-Face makeup from "The Dark Knight", but on the other side of his face, put him in a ragged old Confederate uniform, hand him a pistol and stick him in the Old West... and that's Jonah Hex. (Reply to this) |

crossouttheD writes: on Oct 12 2008 12:43 PM In reply to this comment (#2071822) I know what you mean by #3 but i would love to see an A-Team movie. Kimbo Slice as B.A. Baracus, the guy who plays House as the leader and Jim Carrey as that funny guy. I don't know all the name from the show. How about a McGyver movie?! (Reply to this) |
|
Matanuki writes: on Oct 12 2008 01:47 PM In reply to this comment (#2073375) I'd probably skip on the Confederate uniform, especially considering all the buzz surrounding the upcoming Captain America film. I'll admit I'm no big follower of the Hex mythology, but we're supposed to root for him, yes? (Reply to this) |
|
tomwaitsjr writes: on Oct 12 2008 02:11 PM Kimbo Slice as B.A. is somewhat inspired. . . but in reality Kimbo is probably more like Murdock (insane). I'm sure Hindus everywhere are grateful at Mike Myers for "The Love Guru." I bet they wait on baited breath for Hollywood to explore their religion futher, in the same veign. . . I'd comment further, but there's no way in hell I'm going to watch "The Love Guru." I have a feeling it does for Hindus what "Don't Mess with the Zohan" did for Jews. . . (Reply to this) |

greg_dean_schmitz writes: on Oct 12 2008 05:02 PM About Jonah Hex and the Confederate uniform... well, it's kind of ironic, because he didn't exactly part ways with them in a happy sunshine way. I forgot to mention this, but his origin story also heavily figures in the Apaches, under which he grew up as a hostage/slave. That's how he got his scarred face. Anyway... think of Jonah Hex as sort of an "Outlaw Josey Wales" type character: a bad *** out on the frontier who fights the typical evil types, and looks out for the unfortunate. I've only read a *little* bit of Jonah Hex, but that's what I get from a) personal knowledge but b) mostly reading Wikipedia and other sites: (Reply to this) |

JettaJameson writes: on Oct 12 2008 05:29 PM I know Sex and the City did extremely well, but they tied it up so well. I really don't see where it can go or why. A sequel is completely not needed. I'll still see it of course, but it's not needed. (Reply to this) |
