Critic Review - San Francisco Chronicle

Compared to other big-budget movies out this summer, it's pretty mediocre. But as a movie that no one thought would be any good because it's based on an action figure that isn't even a foot tall any more, it wildly succeeds.

Wait, how did this get a fresh rating?

"well-executed trash"

"this movie is essentially a two-hour toy commercial"

"the bloated-with-visual effects final 30 minutes will make audiences yearn for the realistic clutter-free action and human contact of the Clone Wars"

"this film is best enjoyed if you're an 11-year-old boy - or a grown-up man who just drank four cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon"

"Compared to other big-budget movies out this summer, it's pretty mediocre. But as a movie that no one thought would be any good because it's based on an action figure that isn't even a foot tall any more, it wildly succeeds." (Translation: It's only good because everyone thought it would be horrible.)

agreed frozen01 this review should be listed as ROTTEN. GI Joe - another typical Hollywood crapfest with endless jokes, one liners, and stupidity with explosions and special effects which get more screen time than the actors. Such a waste. 175 million down the drain. Di Bonaventura has ruined another beloved franchise, first Transformers, now GI Joe.
