Audience Reviews for Gie

Salah satu film Indonesia yang digarap dengan cukup baik... A very good story by Riri Riza... He make a great script for this great movie about Indonesia... And Nicholas Saputra who played Gie in this movie, shows a great acting... Two thumbs up!!!

Lacking in a lot of things, yet one of the best Indonesian movies I've ever watched among really bad ones lol. Not that it's bad, but it was too slow yet not showing much of the personality of the main character. Race problem was somehow "deleted" whereas in real life it still is a great problem. Also, it shows too much handsome side of Nicholas Saputra. I read Gie's diary and it was actually deeper than this movie, but I am sure it can be made in lighter ways yet showing the depth of Gie's thought, whether it is right or wrong. I think the director could have explored more... He scratched the surface, but it did not make me understand the character better than what I read in the book (which I did not understand cos it was too deep lol)
