This boxed-set collects together 10 DVD's... Despite being first performed over a century ago, Gilbert and Sullivan continue to delight fans from all over the world with their words and music. This boxed-set collects together 10 DVD's including: H.M.S. PINAFORE: A sailor falls for the captain's daughter. They become thwarted in their attempt to keep their love alive, but a strange twist in the tale offers these lovers another chance. THE MIKADO: The tale of a wandering minstrel searching for his lost love. Unfortunately his lost love is betrothed to the Lord High Executioner, and our wandering minstrel looks set to become his next victim. However, the minstrel has a few surprises up his sleeve before he faces the chop THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE: Young Frederic's attempts to shop a group of pirates to the police after he accidently becomes indoctrinated into their number meets with mixed results. Especially when a bevy of beauties appear on the scene. THE GONDOLIERS: Two gondoliers and 24 potential brides adds up to a whole lot of potential confusion. Especially when it's suddenly discovered that one of the gondoliers is actually a King who was married at birth. PATIENCE: A poet suddenly finds himself as the object of desire for the lovesick damsel's of Castle Bunthorne. His true love, however, is the local milkmaid, who doesn't understand love or poetry. To make matters worse, when she does start to understand love it looks like a rival poet is going to win her heart. IOLANTHE: Banished for marrying a mortal, this tells the story of Iolanthe and her life after attaining a pardon from the Fairy Queen. She is reborn as a teenager, but with a son older than she is! Trouble looms large when her son falls for someone with connections in the House of Lords. PRINCESS IDA: Awaiting marriage to the beautiful Ida, King Hildebrand and his son, Hilarion, are shocked to discover she has renounced men, and set-up an all-female University. Join Hilarion on his quest to change her mind. THE SORCERER: Alexis and Aline are so in love that Alexis decides he wants his whole village to be as happy as he is. With the help of a sorcerer he produces some spectacular results. RUDDIGORE: Each Lord of Ruddigore must commit a crime each day after being cursed by a witch. One of the Lord's decides to live incognito in a local village, and becomes the object of affection for the local beauty, Rose. Exposed through his courtship with her, he is forced into a life of crime. Until an ingenious, yet simple, solution to the curse becomes apparent. THE YEOMAN OF THE GUARD: The rescue of Colonel Fairfax from an execution in the Tower of London is plotted by a young girl. The escape plan takes a few diversions with the arrival of a jester, his lover, and the the need for Colonel Fairfax to be married before he is executed. [More]
