Critic Review - The National

Sexualising a beloved children's fairy tale seems an odd move, but when flanked by an unoriginal story and lacklustre performances, that appears to be the least of the film's problems.

Hmm, sexualizing a child's fairy tale actually seems very fitting to me, maybe because before Disney got a hold of them, fairy tales were a lot more adult. People trusted their children back then to be able to handle the ugly side of life, rather than like now, pretending to children that nothing bad ever happens. There are some serious sexual undertones to the red riding myth already. That's not to excuse this abhorrent telling of the tale; I just wanted to say that I think the premise and idea of turning the fable into an adult story could have worked very well. It just didn't.
