Andrew Sarris was a legend. In an age of cowardly conformity among critics, he dared speak the truth. So what if he didn't like your favorite movie? Who are you to say your opinion is better than his?
Andrew Sarris was a great critic and he is deeply missed.
his review or the hand-plucked snippet that you're using as fuel for your sophomoric ad hominem. Gladiator is a terrible movie; provide one argument tot he contrary.
"...provide one argument in contrary..." Shut the hell up. Who ever said the guy had an argument in the first place anyway? No one. Except you, who for all your homonyms and sophomoric descriptions probably can't even direct a film camera properly if your life depended on it.
Gladiator is not a terrible movie. You're a terrible critic. So get a life.
Andrew, I do believe that while the movie has its flaws... it is difficult not to love. There are cheeseball moments, but there are some outstanding attributes as well. It's hard to be too tough on a Best Picture winner though. And I recommend you find a different gig...
In almost every other movie similar to this genre you find yourself waiting and ignoring the story in hopes of seeing the next fight sequence. In this movie the story surpasses the fights, you must be less than a man to not have felt for his loss and then his revenge, and then ultimately enjoyed the movie. I can see you're close to death, so your opinion can only be said to be marred by your senility.
Don't worry my fellow Gladiator lovers, his eyesight is probably withering due to old age. therefore, he cannot capture the full essence of this brilliant movie.
