What on earth are you talking about? Are you sure you were watching the same movie? As a matter of fact, one of the reasons I love this movie is because of the raw emotion of its aesthetic value. Russel Crowe carrys much of the weight of the film on his shoulders, providing a riveting performance that adds soul to the movie- blood, gore and action combat scenes are all awesome but completely irrelevent in my view of what the fim is trying to convey. Sorry but thats simply one of the worst reviews ive ever laid my eyes on.
Mind you you're not the only one, there are so many idiots out there who for some reason think arguably the best movie of 2000 fails on a dramatic level. So you're excused, but make sure you run off and watch Iron Man or some other real action movie lacking depth with the rest of them.

They're doing you are a favour man- no offence but you're an idiot. Not that I mean to get all personal- analyzing a film should be a carefully crafted exercise, as we've all had the pleasure of learning from your words of wisdom. That was an insightful comment you made there- or should I say a riveting review. Lose the swear words, and you'll be intelligent enough to pass as a full-time film critic. Nice work!

Anyway, I thought I might help you out a bit, just to simplify the above comment- it's quite a mouthful! Well, in other words, you can go fuck yourself until you snap into a bit of reality. No- you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. No- Gladiator is not an average movie. No- you have no right to swear at people because you cannot handle the truth goddamit.

Although I like the movie and disagree with the review, I must admit that your reaction does not necessarily display a high level of sophistication. What is the purpose of this site when everyone with a different opinion gets called all sorts of names, and, one has the feeling, if met in person, would be in real physical danger ? That is what happens in a dictatorship. How would YOU like to be treated when your opinion differs from that of somebody else, maybe even from the majority ?

A lousy review which owes more to the reviewer trying to make himself sound clever, than it does to the relative merits, or lack thereof, of the movie.

Gladiator is far from perfect but to criticise it on two of the very things it excels in - spectacle and drama - is pigheaded crassness of the worst kind. If I read this on Amazon I'd think the guy was trolling.
