  • In 1992, the Glyndebourne Festival Theatre mounted a sensational Gala Evening with a host of opera's leading personalities gathered to provide a program of unsurpassed musical pleasure. The singers included Montserrat Caballe, Felicity Lott, Ruggero Raimondi, Benjamin Luxon, Kim Begley, Frederica von Stade and Cynthia Haymon--all of whom appeared at Glyndebourne in the early days of their careers. With Andrew Davis and Bernard Haitink conducting the London Philharmonic, this momentous evening came to a climax with a spectacular display of fireworks. Tracks: Voi che sapete (Mozart), Patria oppressa!, Ah la paterna mano, Salce salce, Ave Maria (Verdi), Una voce poco fa, La calunnia (Rossini), Ruin disaster shame (Stravinsky), Illustratevi o cieli (Monteverdi), Summertime (Gershwin), Storm Interlude (Britten), Closing Scene from "Capriccio" (Strauss), La ci darem la mano, Nettuno s'onori, Overture from "Le Nozze di Figaro" (Mozart).
