Story (which sports some narrative gaps and underdeveloped subplots) turns tear-jerkingly tragic, in pointed, rather ham-fisted fashion.
The beginning moves a little slow, and it takes a while to get going but once it starts moving, it's a very touching and interesting look into a culture not that often exposed.
