Matt Damon Talks Next Ben Affleck Collaboration
The Good Will golden boys look to the future.

Rumor has it that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are working on another script together. It would be the first time in 10 years the magic Good Will Hunting duo put words to paper. While doing press for The Bourne Ultimatum, Damon revealed that their potential project is not a script collaboration.

"We’re not working on a script right now, but we’re talking about a bunch of different things," he said. "His career just totally has gone in this really new and exciting direction, because I’ve seen the movie that he directed and it is really good. So he’s gone from being an actor to now being a director, now being somebody that can give me a job, so our whole relationship’s completely changed."

Damon has seen Gone Baby Gone and is so impressed, he put Affleck on a short list of directors he wants to work with. "It’s fantastic, the performances are great and every actor is going to want to work with him after they see this thing."

Hey Matt, maybe you could write something that he'll have to direct. "That’s a new dynamic that our partnership can have. We can do a movie that we act in, or I act in and he directs, or something that we co-direct, or something that co-write and co-direct, there are so many different possibilities now because he’s gone and done this really great movie. So it’s exciting and now we’ve started to talk about that stuff again. We both put our heads down and worked pretty hard in this last ten years, and so now we’ve woken up with careers and families and all the things that we wanted, and so hopefully the next ten years will be about doing better work, maybe doing a little less of it, but doing better stuff and doing more together."

Bourne 4? Pretty sure that's not happening. They should leave it as a trilogy.

In other words Affleck has finally hit rock bottom as an actor so he's now going to attempt to be a director. Since Affleck never knew how to perform in front of the camera I highly doubt he's going to have any worthy advice to give to people he "directs". I think Damon is just being nice, since Affleck's his friend.

Interestingly, of all the possibilities Matt never says something that I write or I direct. I'd like to see if he can write without Ben since Ben has now written without him. Prove you deserved that Oscar Matt!

Ben Affleck really gets a bad wrap. He's not as bad as they say. There was a time (pre bad movie stint) we all loved him.

Rock bottom? Last time I checked, he was still make millions as an actor and his movies were being released in the theatre. I think someone needs a little perspective here.

As directing, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with how good an actor one is. I've never felt Martin Scorses burned up the screen but he's a pretty good director. Everything I've heard about Gone Baby Gone has been excellent. However you feel as Affleck as an actor, it has NOTHING to do with how good a director he is. Perhaps, it's being a director that is his calling and not being an actor. Ever think of that?

The Ludlum books stop with the Ultimatum, although there has been the "Bourne Legacy" and the "Bourne Betrayal" written by like his grand nephew or something...

His performance in Chasing Amy is still one of my favorite male love movie performances ever, but for some reason i see this really crappy movie in my head where ben affleck directs matt damon and casey affleck walking across a desert together. Or did that already happen?

You mean Gerry, but it was directed by this guy named Gus Van Sant. Maybe you've heard of him.
