The good thing about Goodbye Bafana is that it is not your average 'African movie'. It does not show starving children or the extreme poverty.
But when trying to focus on Mandela's story, it fails to go deeper, to find the real heart and soul of this amazing character.
Joseph Fiennes carries the entire movie on his shoulders - or, even better, his eyes. He always says a lot with just one look. That's not enough, though.
It could have been great, but it's just good.
