NIGHT FANGS: Dubbed "the John Carpenter of Uruguay," South American filmmaker Ricardo Islas pays tribute to the European horror traditions of Hammer Films and Dario Argento with his second English-language outing, NIGHT FANGS. Written, directed, and produced by Islas, the gory vampire flick centers on a pair of lesbians who become dangerously obsessed with the true story of Elizabeth Bathory, a 16th-century Hungarian countess who murdered hundreds of girls and bathed in their blood in order to preserve her youth and beauty. Shot on digital video with indie production values that enhance its moody atmosphere and graphic special effects, NIGHT FANGS is destined to become an instant cult classic. INSECTICIDAL: This award-winning B-movie has all the trappings of a genre classic: low-tech special effects, hot women, and giant creatures. When nerdy coed Cami (Meghan Heffern, THE FOG) undertakes some radical experiments on insects for her science project, things get a little out of control, with giant bugs running rampant on campus. The lovely young students don't let it get them down, however, waging a battle against the bugs that even leaves time for a little lesbian hot tub action. THE LAST HORROR MOVIE: A wedding videographer uses a slasher video rental that he's recorded over with real murders to recruit victims, then speaks into the camera to the viewer before and after killing his latest quarry. Kevin Howarth delivers a chilling performance in this diabolically intricate and frightening meta-movie about watching horror movies. WEDDING SLASHERS: With names like "The Mortician" and "The Surgeon," Jenna's relatives are scarier than your average in-laws. Their frightening monikers (and behavior) might even explain her inability to keep a boyfriend alive. As soon as they say "I love you," they each meet a gruesome end. When her latest love, Alex, lives to see their wedding day, one might think Jenna could finally live happily ever after with a man she loves. But then the best man dies a bloody death, and the bridesmaids aren't faring much better. Can she keep Alex safe, or will he die like all the others? Perfect for horror fans who like their gore with a few giggles, WEDDING SLASHERS is fun despite--or perhaps because of--its copious amounts of blood and demented family members. [More]
