It stars Jeff Daniels as Ben Wilson, a single father who is haunted by the death of his wife and is trying to start a new life with his daughter Helen in Greenglen, Illinois by renovating a hotel and running it. However, when a strange travel agent inquires about renting the hotel for nine lodgers despite its dilapidated condition, Ben immediately realizes something is wrong.
