"Gravity" is the clear priority of wide releases. (Will Gemma Arterton ever get a chance to be in a decent film?)

But "Touch of Sin" and "Summit" are my most anticipated, even if I may have to wait until rentals to see them. "Bad Milo" looks fun, as does "Dracula 3D". Even the trailer is inexplicitly hilarious.

People, I beg you. Don't use RUNNER RUNNER as an excuse to keep on trolling Ben Affleck for being cast as BATMAN. Anyways, I won't be seeing it. Of course I choose GRAVITY (even though I'm not a fan of "2001" nor APOLLO 13). I like SOME Metallica songs, but I don't think enough to see a whole concert, let alone a concert film. And I haven't seen a Dario Argento movie yet, so I shouldn't start with DRACULA, right?

Sadly I'm sure Runner Runner will win at the box office. Justin Timberlake just put out another album this week and Ben Affleck is riding on his Batman casting so all the lil fanboys (and girls) will be lining up to see it.

This will be a repeat of earlier in mid-July, when Pacific Rim debuted lower than both Despicable Me 2 and Grown Ups 2

I'm with you Lenny, the box office success, is not typically tied to high reviews. It seems that well known Hollywood names are what drives boxoffice success and not good movies.

Even in that case Gravity has the edge easily. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are both easily bigger draws than Affleck and Timberlake.

Nah, you're not even close my friend. Every box office site I've seen has "Gravity" easily winning the box office this weekend. It's expected to hit the 30 million mark at worst this weekend and the mid 40 million mark at best. "Runner Runner" is only expected to gross between 10-13 million this weekend. The buzz is just too strong for "Gravity" to not run away with the box office title from what I can tell.

yup... Gravity probably will not make first, unless a ton of people go for the more expensive 3D experience. In my opinion Pacific Rim was more enjoyable and fun than Iron Man 3, the 3D and the level of scale was really amazing!

Ok I take back what I said. Gravity is being promoted with the perfect reviews (hell, all over my Facebook page it shows "Gravity is certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes at 98%!") and several box office sites are tracking it strongly.

As far as the film goes, I just saw Gravity in IMAX 3D and I gotta say I'm ready to pay 5 times the ticket price to watch it again just in regular 2D. It's that good.

Gravity has been much better promoted than Pacific Rim and Runner Runner is no Despicable Me 2 or Grown Ups 2 (box office wise that is). The marketing has made it clear that Gravity's not only a spectacle, but a powerful human survival story, and Sandra Bullock will be a big draw to females, an audience Pacific Rim failed to reach out to.

I am curious why critics ignore certain things about art films and totally point out the short comings of others. In any other film I'd bet Sandra Bullock's "Hysterical Woman who just can't cut it in a Man's work place" would be pointed out OVER and OVER and OVER again by Every critic.
