Ironically, "sounds cool in front your friends" seems like the go-to excuse to bash critics who hate Sandler's movies. It's like the Sandler fanbase has singlehandedly created reverse-pretentiousness, with their endless rants on how anyone who doesn't like Sandler is an old, pretentious snob too stupid to laugh at stupid comedy.

No, I hate Adam Sandler for the one joke vapid actor he is. I will say that I do think his performance in Punch Drunk Love works, but mostly because director Paul Thomas Anderson knows what to do with him and his insanity. He is a scary guy, and on top of that he is also a con man who inflates his movie budgets until they are almost crossing the century million mark. Then he shoots his films in the cheapest way possible so that he can write off high pay checks for him and his buddies involved in the project. This only turns the gears of easy money making that has been deteriorating the credibility of Hollywood films for the past decade, please I beg of you, if you believe that film is an art, please don't buy a ticket to grown ups 2, go see pacific rim, or despicable me 2, or even the heat, anything that looks like it was a product of the money spent.
