Twenty years after the original HALLOWEEN, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), now the headmistress of a Northern California private school under an assumed name, is still struggling with the terrifying memories of the psychotic killer Michael Myers. That horror becomes a reality once again when Michael returns, embarking on a murderous roadtrip from Illinois to California, killing three more people and stealing a victim's car before threatening the lives of Laurie's rebellious son (Josh Hartnett), his girlfriend (Michelle Williams), and the school security guard (LL Cool J). It's up to Laurie to conquer her internal demons and end Michael's evil. And a conveniently placed ax might just help her accomplish the task.... [More]

Halloween: H20 is substantially superior compared to any of the non-Carpenter follow-ups.

Taken as a sequel to Halloween, this is just above average; taken as a sequel to Halloween Two, which is where most of its backstory comes from, it looks terrific.

...the throwaway jokes are few and far between, and after a pre-title sequence reintroduces Michael and shows just how far up suspense and thrills can be ratcheted, Halloween H20 declines into the routine.

Halloween H20 is every bit as moldy and dull as the seventh film in a series is likely to be.

It's a fitting enough capstone for one of horror cinema's more memorable series, I suppose, but when it ended I wanted, more than anything else, to go peruse the original.

What’s worse than releasing a movie about Halloween in the summer? How about a video about Halloween at Christmas? Or, subtitling a movie that has nothing to do with water H2O?

It's not so much that the movie stinks -- [director] Miner has the anything-could-happen-at-any-moment mood down to a science -- it just doesn't have anything new to offer, and in the wake of Scream, I've come to expect more.

I imagined Miss Leigh telling her friends, 'They wanted me to do a cameo in the remake of Psycho, but I said, hell, I'd do Halloween: H20 before I'd lower myself to that.'

Though too conventional to be truly thrilling, Halloween H20 is a fitting final round for one of screen history's bloodiest family feuds.

H20 returns to an almost slasher film purity: innocent horror movie fun , a lean, sharp thrill ride that delivers scares rather than gore.
