"Halo" Gets a Teaser (Sort Of)
As you may remember reading here last October, the Peter Jackson-produced, Neil Blomkamp-directed film adaptation of Microsoft's hit series of "Halo" games was left at the altar by Universal and Fox, thus effectively killing the project. Or perhaps not.
As Cinematical reports, Microsoft used the E3 conference this week to grease the skids for the upcoming "Halo 3" with an assortment of "Halo"-related material, including a Blomkamp-directed teaser. Jackson has publicly stated his belief that Fox and Universal will get over their cold feet once they see how well the game sells, so the argument could be made that this teaser is not only a promotional tool for the game, but a way of re-enthusing the film's erstwhile studio backers.
It's a thought. As you'll see after watching the teaser, however, Blomkamp clearly didn't have much to work with, and filled in the gaps with what looks like footage pulled from Ford training videos and Marine Corps commercials -- the whole thing has a rushed, low-budget feel. It's apparently only one of several such clips, however, so it stands to reason that Microsoft will continue to leak out more (and better) "Halo" trailers as the game's September 25 release date approaches -- and that all this just might get the "Halo" film back on the release schedule.

Wignut studios is Jacksons Video game company he started. so people need to chill. This is a feel for what the Untitled halo game is going to be. (Reply to this) |

adargath writes: on Jul 12 2007 04:25 PM Hmmmm Why is everybody worried about this movie? or the game itself? Halo series are way to overrated. Besides, game adaptations are somewhat crappy. So, I'd strongly believe that a movie is not mandatory. The same could be said about the so called "MGS" movie. I hope they never see the light, since that's a better game in all. (Reply to this) |

Warheart1188 writes: on Jul 12 2007 05:15 PM This is a Halo 3 video, not a movie teaser, but it kicks so much ass! It doesn't look that cheap considering you have the 'Ford' factories building Warthogs and Marines in Halo UNSC Marine uniforms grabbing their Battle Rifles and you see a Pelican rise out of a hanger towards the end of the trailer. calitranx writes: on Jul 12 2007 06:52 PM This trailer is odd. If taken as just a visceral level its not very good but as a feel, i think it is great. It captures, in my opinion the feel, of the war machine and the effects needed to produce a halo movie. it just needs alittle cash and alittle time. (Reply to this) |

FireflyFan4evr writes: on Jul 13 2007 12:26 AM From the short films I have seen of Blomkamp's, I can honestly say that everyone should get off of his back about being a noobie director that will somehow ruin Halo. He is very creative and imaginative- especially with technology- and he should be given a chance. Peter Jackson believes he can do, and so do I. (Reply to this) |
