The Jeff Martin Band thinks they have what it takes to make it big, but despite great songs and a charismatic lead singer (Lane Caudell), the rock quartet is stuck playing a succession of sleazy dives and bar mitzvahs, going nowhere fast. Enter Katie Ross (Deborah Raffin), an ambitious would-be rock manager who is sure she can break the boys big.
