Summary

This week at the movies, we've got killer siblings (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton), an avenging crook (Parker, starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez), and a smorgasbord of comedy vignettes (Movie 43, starring Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman). Upset to hear that JOHN DIES AT THE END didn't fare better score-wise. Heaven knows I'd LIKE Hansel and Gretel to be better than Brothers Grimm, but it won't be. Between 18% and 23% for both it and Movie 43. Possibly lower for Movie 43.

Hansel and Gretel : 10%-30% the trailers look so bad that I, a big fan of fantasy movie, don't really want to watch it.
Movie 43 : probably 20%-40%

Looks like the last weekend in January will be the crappiest.

Except last year, the first weekend was the worst (The Devil Inside pissed everyone off). The more crappy movies like that, the more likely theaters will be shot up (i.e. Aurora).

Blahhhhhh. Time to finally see Django, and/or 48fps Hobbit.

I should tell you: I found "The Hobbit" disappointing. Not because of the tech, but because the characters and story were undercooked.

Nah. "Hobbit" is another Peter Jackson LOTR movie. If you liked the others, you'll like this one just fine.

I'm predicting Hansel and Gretel to be 40%. I seem to get the jibe that this film is more of an escapist action film and it looks like it can be good. I'm predicting Movie 43 to be 32%. That movies looks sort of silly but I fear critics may not be too kind. I'm interested in Parker but it seems to be one of those generic action films that comes out often.

There's a reason they don't screen these things.

Hansel & Gretel may get to 30-40%, but Movie 43 will probably be in the low teens, maybe 13%

Just saw it and I think 20% would be incredibly generous. What a turd. I went for Jeremy Renner eye-candy, but even that couldn't keep my eyes from rolling out of my head.

Hansel and Gretel won't go beyond 20% I'd wager.

Hansel & Gretel - 11% based entirely on the trailer. If that is the teaser elements of the film, count me out. Lame, trite, and silly.

How in the hell Jennifer Lopes continues to be allowed on a film set is beyond my comprehension.

She still hasn't learned her lesson after "Gigli", which should have ruined her career for good.

well, 50% for Hansel and Gretel it looks fun, plus Jeremy Renner is awesome and so is Gemma Arterton.
Also movie 43 could be a surprising 60%, trailers looked interesting so far

I bet you they'll come out of the theater asking for a refund. It's bound to happen since no reviews have shown up yet.

16% I guess, eventually. I think it looks like an awesome movie Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters.

I'm gonna have to go with 13% for Hansel and Gretel and 65% for Movie 43.

I was going to guess that Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters would get a 20-25%, but it's at a 9%. That's lower than I would have ever expected. I really want to see Parker so screw the critics. Maybe I'll get burned, but it'll happen of my own volition. I wasn't interested in Movie 43. I'm going to guess a 10%.

Hans Morgenstern

12% for Hansel and Gretel 20% for Movie 43 ... more importantly, a week thatt proves why Hollywood more often than not sucks. Look at the limited release and art house movies. Why do we care so much about this big budget crap that only condescends to the masses? New Herzog documentary!
