So, to help his grandma regain her home from the IRS, he trades in his stick and puck for a 5-iron and a tee, and enters the PGA tour. To prepare for this new career, Gilmore hires Chubbs, an ex-golf pro. Happy's "Generation X" status, and his wild, boisterous antics on the green, shake up the stuffy golf world -- particularly when groups of rowdy hockey fans show up at tournaments to cheer Happy on. This dismays Shooter, an arrogant pro who is exasperated with Happy... and will do anything to get rid of him. Can Happy elude Shooter's conspiratorial clutches? And if so, can he win enough money to save his grandma? [More]

Reviews for Happy Gilmore
The Bob Barker/Happy Gilmore fistfight and Ben Stiller's uncredited cameo as an evil nursing home manager make this one worth a lazy Sunday rental.
At the end of the day, it's exactly what most spectators would really love to see on the fairway.
It may smell awful from a distance, especially if you have low tolerance for lowbrow humor, but up close this yarn about an unlikely golf star is fairly painless.
Fans of sport and brash, boisterous comedies will find a lot to love here.
Sever those cerebral lobes, sit back, and enjoy a gleeful, energetically stupid comedy.
Happy Gilmore provides Sandler with a perfect outlet for his character.
This is a fun movie. I don't know how many times I've seen it now, but it never ceases to amuse me.
It's not quite Sandler's best film, but it still is a very fun movie.
Sandler plays this a lot smarter than, say, a Jim Carrey character, and with less slapstick. Still, this is not delicate, subtle stuff: It's smart low-brow, and only for those who like their humor a bit offbeat.
