Critic Review - Laramie Movie Scope

The plot is one long, boring slog to nowhere. Yes, that reflects what is in this section of the book, but that is absolutely no excuse for this.

Looks like we've got a Harry Potter fanboy who can't see that the Harry Potter brand have produced a bad film.

I am a fan of Harry Potter and enjoyed the first 6 movies. However this film was described perfectly by Robert a "boring slog" which to be honest was an effort to stay awake through. I think the progression through the plot could have been done in 30 minutes and not 146.
Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 1 was just that. Part 1.

Bring on Part 2.

Produced a bad film? Even slightly lowered, this movie is still sitting at at 78%, which is around what all of the others received. You see the tomato next to the percent? It's means 'certified fresh.' This was one of the best of the series, finally focusing on the characters and their emotions rather then just amplifying and, even, making up fight scenes to just entertain.

This was a terrible movie, and the reviewer was spot on with his review.

Quit being such a baby about wanting the RT score to be higher. If you don't like reviews, don't read them Wendy Whiner.

Funny how you act like your opinion is fact. I never knew nonsense action and hot girls made a great movie.

"Why make one film when you can split the book in two and make two movies out of it and collect twice the money? After all, look at the Twilight movies. They provide proof positive you don't have to make good movies to make oceans of money."

--

Because, unlike the Twilight filmmakers, these guys actually care for the fans and keeping the quality of the story intact.

If you read the book, you would know it impossible to fit all of that into 1 film without satisfying the fans, which is ultimately the ones they are making the films for, NOT for you critics. When you watch Part 2, everything will make sense, and I'm sure some doubters will be eating their words.

I'll say it again, shit review from a shit critic.

"This English story is like English food: bland, colorless and boring."

You call yourself a professional? Until I found this website, I had no idea that such pitiful analyses could come from "top" critics. What a pathetic attempt to rant while offering nothing to a broader cinematic understanding. I'm ashamed that visitors read these reviews first.

How was this movie boring? It had great pace and it was well acted and a good portrayal of the first half of book.

I totally agree. I am a complete Harry Potter addict but this movie has spoiled Harry Potter for me now. Each scene was so short not enough time to even engage in the characters. The wedding scene was utterly short, basically no atmosphere in the movie, no connection, even Harry and Ginnys kiss lacked emotion. Why?!? why ! I watch all the other movies weekly at home and the books were brilliant!

Did we watch the same film? The scenes are longer in DH1 than any other HP film simply because they have the time.

Nothing more hilarious than watching people freak out about a bad review. I enjoyed the movie to a degree, not as much as a couple of others but still enjoyed it. But come on people, quit acting like these reviewers just killed your dog. Its not life and death here. lmao

Guys, I wouldn't judge this review just from his opening line. While I disagree with some of what he says, his review is honest, he's not trolling he has a few good points.

A lot of camping and arguing, not much progress is made..etc. etc.

I haven't read this guy's other reviews but I respect his opinion on this film.

"Blink and you‚??ll miss John Hurt, Imelda Staunton, Alan Rickman and a half dozen other sterling actors reduced to cameos here."

What's the point of including this? There's no room for them in the plot! The focus of the book is only on a handful of characters... One can't just add more characters because they have "sterling actors" at his disposal. Come on.

"...but the first part of the franchise‚??s swan song is nothing more than a cinematic placeholder."

That's all it's MEANT to be, hence being labeled "Part I." It's holding its place so that come Summer '11, people actually want to see what happens. Your style of writing is similar to that of a sophomore in high school, and your points are so narrow minded and one sided that it's difficult for me to even read it because it's so uneducated.

I can't help but wonder if he happened to be on meds during the movie, because while not many major developments happened, there was a sense of urgency and threat during every second of the movie, (unlike the other movies with their obligatory "Hogwarts at Christmas" scenes.) It was true to the book, exciting, and poignant. This critic needs to find a new line of work.

Sorry but this reviewer was spot on.

The plot was pedestrian and largely pointless.

It is the closest I have ever been to getting up and walking out on a Harry Potter Movie.

This could have been condensed down to half it's length and lost absolutely nothing.

Good review
