Critics Consensus: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is Certified Fresh

Summary

This week at the movies, we've got the conclusion to one of the most popular cinematic franchises ever (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson), and we revisit Hundred Acre Wood (Winnie the Pooh, with voice work from Jim Cummings and Craig Ferguson). What do the critics have to say? How do you conclude one of cinema's most beloved franchises? With a bang. Critics say Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is the perfect send-off to a series that's enchanted millions: it's viscerally thrilling, visually majestic, and poignantly acted -- especially so because we've watched Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint grow up on the big screen. I still can't believe it's been a decade since the first Harry Potter was released. I never expected the final Potter film to come so fast. At least when the book series finished there was still the movies to look forward to. At least it looks like it went out with a bang, here's hoping that it's as good as other great franchise ending films like Toy Story 3 and Return of the King. I'm sure I'll love it, as I've enjoyed every film in the franchise so far. Will be interesting to see just how big it is at the box office. There are a lot predicting that it might break the opening weekend of TDK. Even if it doesn't, Warner Bros. will probably still hold the top three biggest opening weekends once TDKR is releases (the teaser trailer being attached to Deathly Hallows is yet another reason for me to be soo excited for the film)

Also, nice to see Winnie the Pooh getting great reviews too, as The Many Advetures was one of my chilhood favourites, along with the animated series. I'll definetely be checking that one out though when I'm not sure, and I hope it does well. And with Pixar having stumbled this year with Cars 2, this could also be Disney's first traditional animated film to win the best animated feature oscar.

On a side note, I can't remember the last time all the wide releases were rated higher than any of the limited releases.

I've always been both a voracious reader, so it surprised most of the people who know me when,ten years ago, I adamantly refused to read the Harry Potter novels while their cinematic incarnations were being developed. I wanted the opportunty to experience the films strictly AS films, without making comparisons to the source material.

I'm glad I did. From a cinematic standpoint ,these are superb films(my personal favorite thus far being Order of the Phoenix). I am going to genuinely miss Harry's world. I was well into my adult years when the film series launched,but the tale has come to mean a great deal to me nonetheless. It's been a wonderous experience, one as moving as it is amazing as we were able to literally watch these characters grow up.

However,I am also fortunate in that I can now safely go back to the beginning and read the books,experiencing the entire story from a new perspective-the Mind's Eye. That's something I'm really looking forward to.

So this is me , raising a glass of Butter Beer to the succesful release of the final Harry Potter film and setting off some Weasley Brothers fireworks in celebration of one of the best film franchises to ever grace the silver screen. Thank you, JK..... it's been an incredible ride.

Slight correction to the above post- that should have read "I've always been a voracious reader". Not sure how that "both" got in there. Damn.

I did not get the Batman trailer where I went to see Harry Potter in 3D. Fudge.

As for Potter, if you view the movie as a whole with the last one, it is on par with the Lord of the Rings movies. Epic show. Bravo. Many claps afterwards.

I'm blaming DJ MARK for corrupting me;

I now have plans to see HARRY POTTER and the Deathly Hallows part 2 today. (persuasive posting).

Well now I'll see first hand how BLOODY anti-Christian Harry Potter really is.

I think, at 92 MILLION DOLLARS, a lot of Christians "ducked-into" the theater.
