Best of all is Parker, the perfect melancholy romantic hero, brooding and dark, yet touching and sentimental.

Shrouded in fog and mystery, the mansion was once a stately antebellum palace that hosted New Orleans' wealthiest. Now it's the creepy and crumbling home to a love struck 19th century gentleman, 999 ghosts, and a hilarious and hair-raising battle for "home rule." Realtor Jim Evers (EDDIE MURPHY) and his wife and business partner Sara get a call late one night from mansion owner Edward Gracey, who is looking to sell his property. Smelling the biggest deal of their career, Jim, Sara and their two children pay a visit to the mansion, located on a remote bayou.A torrential thunderstorm of mysterious origin strands the Evers family in the old mansion with the brooding, eccentric Gracey, his mysterious butler Ramsley, and a variety of residents both seen and unseen. At first, Jim scoffs at Gracey's stories about ghosts and hauntings, until he unearths the mystery of the mansion and finds that his wife Sara has unexpected connections to its haunted past. THE HAUNTED MANSION is directed by Rob Minkoff ("The Lion King," "Stuart Little") and features stunning special effects and make-up design by six-time Academy Award® winner Rick Baker ("An American Werewolf in London," "Men in Black," "The Nutty Professor," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"), visual effects by Sony Pictures Imageworks, Inc., and sets by Oscar®-winning production designer John Myhre ("Elizabeth," "X-Men," "Chicago"). -- © Disney Pictures [More]

Reviews for The Haunted Mansion
It's notoriously difficult to balance lighthearted humor with the spookiness a good ghost story requires, but director Rob Minkoff is surprisingly successful, delivering a satisfying mix of laughs and mild scares aimed at a young audience.
It's perfectly palatable family fare for a long weekend when it's hard to find movies at the neighborhood 'plex that will please everyone.
It's neither as clever nor as campy as the attraction it's based on, but it's a suitable representation of its, er, spirit.
Swirling apparitions, a wonderful Southern gothic atmosphere and a thwarted love story make this a fine companion piece to the Walt Disney theme-park attraction.
At this point, you can't really be mad at Eddie for making kid movies seeing as his adult career done dried up long ago (did YOU see "I Spy," "Pluto Nash" or "Showtime?").
The point of Haunted Mansion is for audiences to sit back and enjoy the ride, which is easy to do thanks to an engaging story, the striking, Gothic-inspired set by Oscar-winner John Myhre and some delightful special effects.
For those of you in the flyover states who've never been able to afford a trip to the Disney parks, or...simply don't want to pay exorbitant admission prices.
With The Haunted Mansion, the second movie this year to be based on a popular Disney attraction Eddie Murphy may have finally brought his career back to life.
The Haunted Mansion was made in the spirit of giving everyone in the family something to enjoy together. It’s successful at that level.
A pleasant and atmospheric family romp, offering enough mildly chilling thrills to keep everyone entertained during its brief running time.
You don't go to a movie like this for the sparkling repartee; you go to ride the ride one more time, and director Rob Minkoff delivers with a slew of sight gags and character cameos that will keep faith with the fans.
Really, there's nothing scary about this ... unless you're the Disney exec who authorized this big-budget specter unspectacular.
