Crash, Thirteen and Kids mix together with Anne Hathaway. Lackluster directing, but solid performances. Disappointing ending.

They were done with playing it safe. When Allison (Anne Hathaway) and Emily (Bijou Phillips) leave their rich suburb for a joyride through East L.A., they glimpse a frightening landscape of drugs, violence and gang brutality. But as their fear turns to infatuation, the friends find themselves seduced by a dark and dangerous world - where a pretty girl can get anything she wants...except a second chance.
also star Channing Tatum, Johnny Vasquez, Josh Peck, Shiri Appleby, Michael Biehn, Raymond Cruz, Samuel Bottoms, Laura San Giacomo and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
directed by Barbara Kopple.

Its decent, theres a million films like this but there was a little more in this one but not enough.

There are some interesting parallels between this and the recent Spring Breakers. Like Selina Gomez this was Hathaway shedding her teeny credentials. In fact that both films come with similar plots and morals. That is where the interest ends though because like Spring Breakers this is vacuous and almost entirely not compelling.

The characters were irritating and I just couldn't feel for them emotionally.

love this film. defently one of Anne Hathaway's best performance, as well as Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon Levitt & Bjiou Phillips.

Though it was great seeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway, two of the best actors of their generation, in a movie together, the result is lazy, flat and cliched filmmaking.

It was definitely worth seeing at least once

Beyond idiotic tale of wasted youth and reenforced racist stereotypes.

Was very much close to real life in LA America. (Glad i dont live there)A group of young girls whos idea of fun and a real alternative to their lives backfires. Anne Hathaway is a versatile actress who has fully absorbed into her rich, smart, beautfiul yet needing a fix of danger character. Such a different role that does wonders. Was disappointed with Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance, crazy stone head seemed to be over acting. A definate below par after the film Brick for him. As usual Freddy Rodriguez playing his Latino 16 street gang member gets it down to a tee! The whole film is like one big esculation! Everything having a ripple effect. Was expecting a better ending as it felt a bit abrupt, a good film although i dont think id watch it that often.

The movie could have had more action on it, the idea was good but didn't really accomplish anything.
October 20, 2012
This is a fairly full on movie and probably wouldn't go back for seconds... it is a shame that this storyline or similar probably happens quite regulary. Once again happy with Anne Hathaway's performance, she is a great actor.

don't expect Anne Hathaway to be all sweet in this one, ha but thats why I love it.

Thought this movie would be better than it was!!!

Feel pretty much like the movie thirteen, but focused on "whiggers". It starts good, even gives hints of being deep, but ends up with too many loose ends, only half of them on purpose.

Tediously by the numbers cautionary tale of the dangers of modern city life that wastes a rather impressive cast of up-and-comers by relegating them to minor roles and placing the entire weight of the heavy-handed exposition on Hathaway, who actually does a fine job despite the generic and unpleasant plot. I'm sure it's every film-makers worst nightmare that their rich kids want to emulate black/gang culture and have it lead them into mortal danger, but for everyone else this is a tediously obvious tale with people we could care less about.
