Total Recall: The 10 Best Superhero Hookups
Summary
No doubt Hellboy and Liz Sherman turn heads while playing frolf at the park, or at IKEA when looking for mid-priced dressers. Superheroes may be unusual, but, hey, even the unusual need relationships. And these two have picked the best summer for their blockbuster love: between the rekindled senior romance of Indy and Marion, the sight of Israeli and Palestinian stylists knocking combs, and the sweet purity of Wall-E and EVE, it's been a long season of unusual relationships. Perfect for superheroes in love. In tribute to Hellboy II: The Golden Army, here's Rotten Tomatoes' list of the most memorable superhero hookups done in Movieopolis. Back to Article

Captain Average writes: on Jul 09 2008 07:01 PM There's nothing wrong with having seen the first Power Rangers movie on opening day. Heck, even Roger Ebert loved it - and he was a lot tougher on flicks back then [I still haven't been able to figure out how he could enjoy "Hancock," for instance...]. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Jul 09 2008 10:52 PM Ehh Batman and Catwoman, I was so dissapointed with Batman Returns it focused to much on the villians. I hated Daredevil and the Elektra hook up that ruiened the movie, it became DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Dare Devil & Elektra (thats why the director's cut is better, it cut out alot of Elektra and focused more on DD). I hated F4, those to were so hollow as Mr. Fantastic and Mrs. Fantastic. I say make a list of top superheros and villains in movies! 1-Batman (BALE) 2-Wolverine 3-Spiderman (yes the 3rd one was bad) 4-Iron Man 5-Superman (hollow character) Villans (im sure Heath ledger will be #1 in my book next friday) 1-Cillian Murphy (scarecrow) 2-Jack Nicholson (joker) 3-Alfred Molina (Doc Oc) 4-Jeff Bridges (Obodiah Stane) 5-Gene Hackman (Lex Luthor) (Reply to this) |

JettaJameson writes: on Jul 09 2008 11:24 PM I'd like to point out that there was no Green Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. Tommy Oliver(Jason David Frank), the Green Ranger, lost his powers and had already been transformed into the White Ranger by the time the movie was released. He then went on to play the Red Ranger in two later series incarnations, Power Rangers: Turbo(Including the big screen version Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie) and Power Rangers: Zeo. And I saw both movies opening day. I used to be a HUGE fan. And to really bring it home, I had Power Ranger pogs. Haha! I'd also like to point out that Power Rangers is geared towards kids who are too young to watch MTV. Trust me, we werent watching because there was nothing else to watch. It was THE SHOW to watch. I mean, its STILL on. It has a new cast, new costumes, new powers, new zords every year. I don't watch it anymore, I'm 25, but this article makes it seem as if Power Rangers was some embarassing flash in the pan, when in fact, it's one of the longest running and most successful kids shows ever. Sure, its cheesy, but so are most kids shows. How about a little respect? Amy Jo Johnson, the Pink Ranger..........what a babe. And yes, I know my nerd is showing. :) (Reply to this) |

jerseycajun writes: on Jul 10 2008 08:28 AM When you make any "Best" list that includes the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, it's a good indicator that the field isn't large enough to justify a "Best" list. In the extreme, I can envision a category like "Best super-intelligent baby movies" containing both "Baby Genius" movies and nothing else, but would it be worth anything? (Reply to this) |

moviemonkey2 writes: on Jul 10 2008 12:02 PM Ok...so this list is a thinly veiled promotion for Hellboy 2, a handful of the list isn't even superheroes, half of it is filler since there isn't enough superheroes in love to fill out a list of 10, the 10th one isn't even in-love, and you managed to leave Hellboy off the list....Brilliant. Do you guys spend more time on the list, or searching for the videos on YouTube? I'm guessing the latter.... (Reply to this) |

StylesClashV1 writes: on Jul 10 2008 12:07 PM The pink and green rangers need to be number one. It's really, really, really hard to get 7 year old boys to buy in to a love story the way me and my friends did that one. (Reply to this) |

vaodsi writes: on Jul 10 2008 01:13 PM haha. Well... since all the people here like to say how bad the lists are lets do this. For the next list RT will ask a question... for instance "Who is the best superhero couple" then the RT community will all comment on who they think is the best. Then Rt will count the votes and find the top ten. That way people can b!tch about each other rather than lash out at our friendly RT staff who awesomely makes this stuff for all these people who don't have lives so they read lists and b!tch about them (yes.. that kinda includes me). the only problem with this brilliant idea is that i don't know how many people would participate. but hey...... then people couldn't complain. it was DEMOCRACY! you don't want to vote then you don't get to comment. RT-Ryan writes: on Jul 10 2008 01:58 PM When we decided to write this, we thought we'd have some fun with it. Methinks some of you take these lists way too seriously. As a matter of fact, vaodsi, when we started brainstorming about it, we did actually start off with something along the lines of "Who's the best superhero couple?" Then we just went from there. Thought it would be fun to include some entries from out of left field, like Bluntman/Chronic and the Power Rangers. Oh well, can't please everyone. (Reply to this) |
|
moviemonkey2 writes: on Jul 10 2008 03:13 PM "When we decided to write this, we thought we'd have some fun with it." Maybe that's kind of part of the problem. The lists have no validity, and they're posted in the news section. Vaodsi has a point. Why not make it something that everyone can contribute their two bits to, rather than the 5 dorks in the RT Thinktank? I mean you keep making all these "Top 10" lists, but instead of actually making a well thought-out list of the Top howevermany, you just kind of arbitrarily place them and throw in a couple oddball ones for giggles. Clearly people will take these seriously when you announce it as "The best ______ of all time". This list is just particularly bad, because there isn't even enough superhero's in love with each other to fill out all 10 slots. The Matrix isn't a superhero movie. Neither is Underworld. It just looks like you're not even trying, and you're expecting us to congratulate you all on your poor attempt. Ya'll need to either take these lists a little more seriously (as so many of the commenter's do), or allow the RT community a chance to vote for their favorites. Or if you're not willing to do either, maybe make a "Retarded Tomatoes" section for the obviously-not-serious crap, so that people won't expect anything more than some half-baked goofiness. (Reply to this) |

osgeek writes: on Jul 10 2008 05:20 PM Thanks for the enormous Hancock spoiler. Teaches me not to read Rotten Tomatoes articles, I guess. You guys should really know better than to put in a spoiler about a movie that's barely even been out a week. That's a real buzz kill and you should edit it out before you ruin more people's experiences on your site. (Reply to this) |

JAKEofMIDWORLD writes: on Jul 10 2008 06:01 PM Good God, people! This is suppose to be fun. Who gives a ****? Why are you being dicks! Who care about Hancock? If you enjoyment of the film is your hope for a weak twist then maybe you need to search out better movies. If you don't like the list don't click on it. This (Rotten Tomatoes) isn't life. It is just a way to pass your shift at work when you should be doing something that is actually job related. (Reply to this) |

Taknakhan writes: on Jul 14 2008 12:24 AM Am I to believe that people are legitimately incensed by the Hancock spoiler? If you watch the trailer, you kinda get a quick shot of the scene where the "unidentifiable heroine" is standing in the midst of that tornado scene. If that didn't reveal it, then the character's first appearance in the film and the 20 second or so 360 camera pan around her as she looks mysterious and like she's hiding something totally didn't make me suspicious. Not at all. And the list is fine. I read these to pass the time, and also to discover films I may not have seen before. Don't take it so seriously, they're just a quick and interesting diversion.
