Hellraiser Remake Seeks New Director

Interested in directing a Hellraiser remake? This might be your chance.

Bloody-Disgusting reports that Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury -- previously announced as the directors of Dimension's planned Hellraiser remake, "are officially OFF the project," and the studio is looking for someone new to helm to film.

The B-D report doesn't get into the reasons why Bustillo and Maury left Hellraiser, but given that they originally signed on to direct their own script, which was passed over in favor of a new treatment from Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (Saw IV, Saw V, Feast), their departure doesn't exactly come as a surprise.

Unless the script is more true to the Hellbound Heart, I'm not wasting my time with this filth. At least they can't take the original away from me or the book it was based on. That's all we need is a Saw sequel with Cenobites. Might as well call it Pinhead vs Jigsaw and have Michael Bay's production team take over.

I couldnt get into the originals, yet i love the concept. A few good cenobites n stuff, but i think the actors in it just looked soooo damn dated, even at the time.
So if this is good, i would rather see a remake of Hellraiser. One film, i think could do with a makeover. I actually preffered the remake Halloween though too, so fans of the original may shoot me down for that. Im not a big horror fan though, it all seems kinda silly and wasted oportunities to me. I would loooooove to make a horror film, and show ya what real fear is supposed to be like.

Hellraiser like Friday the 13th are franchises that could do with a reimagining as the originals are not as good as people remember them to be. Go back and watch either and you'll see they could be much better. Hellraiser fell off horribly after the first one. As for the Neil Marshall idea please, I'll give you Descent but Dog Soldiers and Doomsday? Just keep Bousman and Wan away, I don't want more half assed Saw garbage. I vote for Christophe Gans and his Silent Hill treatment to Hellraiser.

Doomsday was great I wonder why someone didn't rip off Escape from New York , Aliens, The Warriors, Road Warrior, 28 days later, Gladiator and everything else John Carpenter. Dog Soldiers?! I could give any film student $20,000 and get a better product. As much as I love Bubba Ho-Tep don't piss me off Jack Forrest.

im ok with remakes, but please dont if the original is better off: like halloween. original= classic. remake= something that should've been good and came out mediocre at best. (i had high hopes for ya rob)

My favorite Hellraiser was the first one. I thought Clive Barker did a good job directing from his book.

But, then again, I kind of think Nightbreed is under-rated. . .

The only GOOD news in relation to Uwe Boll's name is that the German tax laws which allow him to continually carry out his cinematically criminal enterprises are being reformed. His films will basically HAVE TO turn a profit in order for him to get more funding. Good luck w/that, Uwe! :-)
