This inspiring documentary takes an in-depth look at the hard-won triumphs of many African American success stories, both well-known and unsung. Features are such notables as author Terry McMillan, (WAITING TO EXHALE), and soul luminary Isaac Hayes, who has received an Academy Award and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ossie Davis discusses his journey from a poor farm boy in Georgia, to becoming the prominent, accomplished actor and activist that he is today, while Horace Julian Bond looks back on a lifetime as a major force in the Civil Rights movement. All of those interviewed emphasize the importance of education, perseverance, and hard work in the face of the adversity that racial barriers are still erecting today, and create an insightful, compassionate, and sympathetic perspective on the surrounding issues.
