Fox Assures Hitman Will Be Rated "R"
Contrary to the PG-13 reports yesterday.

Once again, the Internet had us worried there for a minute. After yesterday's report that Fox would be retooling an "explicitly violent, very bloody cut" of Hitman for the Live Free or Die Hard crowd, Fox has jumped in for some much-appreciated damage control.

Getting in touch with Rope of Silicon, Fox representatives are stating that Hitman "has intense action and will definitely be rated 'R'." And Nicholas De Toth, who previously edited Live Free or Die Hard and was reported to be cutting Hitman for a PG-13 rating, is only a consultant, not the film's lead editor.

Below is the rest of the excerpt from Fox's email:

"As you can imagine, we are upset to see this inaccuracy about the rating be spread around. We really are putting out an 'R' rated movie, which as you may know really limits us/challenges us in alot of ways in our marketing. [Fox] knows that to capture Agent 47's essence, this film needs to be an 'R'.

By the way - AVP-R will also be a hard 'R' a month after Hitman. It's not fair to say that Fox waters down/softens all their films for PG-13 ratings..."

Sounds like we hit a nerve with Fox.  Check out Hitman, in all his R-rated glory, on November 21st at theaters everywhere.

"Hard R" press release statements timed to hit the press after unsubstantiated PG-13 rumors. A little calculated, methinks.

Studios understand the power of releasing a red band trailer online, and pushing a violent flick as a "Hard R." That terminology hasn't even really gained prominence until recently. As long as it makes money without necessitating a good script, director or cast.

nah, they tried the "hard r" with pathfinder, saying "this film is rated R for" then like--massively bloody scenes or some ****, and that movie failed like a mother ****er

Hitman doesn't even need to be R. PG-13 can be violent enough if done right like Casino Royale and I'd rather see action like the bathroom scene than all-out violence that they seem to be going for.

I dont think it's going t'be a bad movie, maybe for the gamers( I think the game wasn't that good by the way), but compared to the game, this movie's gon do more justice. Then again there's always gonna be whinners crying like *itches regardless of the outcome.

Even though it's going to be rated R, I still think their heads should explode into confetti.

Sweet, very happy to hear that this and AVP-R are going for a solid R rating.

History tells that this, like all other "videogame adaptations", will be terrible. But, I liked this game and am willing to give the movie a chance. At least it isn't directed by Uwe Bole.

This is the new trend now? Now movies are pushing for R-Ratings instead of PG-13? Its kind of weird. Now I am skeptical of R-rated movies. AVP and Hitman look like ****.

Fox is gay because it is sexually attracted to other companies of the same gender.

R rating or not, this will be bad. There are numerous movies about hitmen so this is nothing ground breaking or original.
