For dance fans, it'll work. But for anyone else watching the movie, there are better films out there, and who's going to watch this if they're not a dance fan?

Pointless sequel is a waste of time, too mature for tweens.

It's a sequel nobody asked for, and unsurprisingly, it sucks.

About as emotionally profound as a tampon advert, and probably less suspenseful...

This genre is now as conventionalised as kabuki and noh theatres in its acrobatic choreography and dramatic cliches.

Just like every other modern dance movie you've ever seen only with less plot and little drama.

Nearly every dance film cliché is done to death here, but at least the hip-hoppery is spectacular, played out before a panel of judges who make Cheryl Cole look like a genius.

The dance sequences have a certain energy and aggressiveness but the plot is predictable, the performances are bland and the dialogue makes your toes curl.

Compared with the redemptive pizzazz of something like Streetdance 3D, there's a soul-crushing, lockstep quality to the lighting, the editing, and the soundtrack.

We've jitterbugged down this path of talented-street-dancing-kid-making-it-to-the-big-time so many times before it's a wonder it doesn't have its own heritage trail through the streets of New York.

It's fine for the genre, but one day it'd be great to see an urban dance flick with more ambition.

The soundtrack's ace, the dance routines are great, and the eye candy's Wonka-standard.
