The movie provides a master lesson in great American character acting, but viewers are also invited to just kick back and enjoy the fun of watching famous, aging movie stars pretend to have difficulties in the sack.
Yep. It's weird that, as a guy in his early 30's, this is one of the movies to which I've most been looking forward. Going back a few months, "Bourne" was the one I wanted to see most all summer. Not "Avengers." Not "TDKR." It was "Bourne." I just really love that genre (Bond, "Taken," etc...). The superhero stuff is a notch below because the superhero action requires too big of a leap of faith. They're still usually good movies, but it's usually a little too "fake" for me. I end up liking the Tony Stark/ Bruce Banner/etc... screen time more than I like the Ironman/Hulk/etc... screen time.
"Avengers" was a letdown for me. I didn't see what everyone else saw in it. I liked "IM1" better. I had the chance to see it for free unlimited times, and I only saw it once (and stayed for the 1st half hour, my favorite part, for a 2nd showing - then walked out). "TDKR" was very good. I'll be seeing that another couple times.
But I usually end up liking these movies made for an older crowd because they're usually the best movies (maybe I connect with them more too). Everything else feels too geared for a younger-than-me audience. "Marigold Hotel" was very good. I figured I'd like "Hope Springs." The trailer was good. Meryl is the best actor working, and she rarely chooses poor scripts. Maybe the funniest thing is...I think Carrell is okay...nothing special. Yet I find I like a lot of his movies A LOT. I thought "Date Night" was really fun. Really enjoyed "Crazy, Stupid Love." I LOVED "Dan In Real Life."
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to "Hope Springs." I was before, but the RT score is making me psyched!

In this manifesto, I forgot to add that "Hope Springs" may've replaced "Bourne" as my most-anticipated movie.
