Dan Fogler Plays Two Villains in Horton
Balls of Fury star reveals his dual roles in upcoming animated film
For those not familiar with the Dr. Seuss story Horton Hears a Who, it takes place in two parallel worlds. There is the Jungle of Nool where elephant Horton lives. Then there is Whoville, which exists inside a speck of dust which lands. That is when Horton hears the Who.
The animated film of the story portrays both worlds, and Dan Fogler is one actor lucky enough to have dual roles. "One of them is Yummo who is like the leader of the gorillas who's a bad guy," said Fogler. "He's constantly bullying Horton throughout the whole thing."
Inside the world of Whoville, Fogler is still making trouble. "On the other hand, in this microscopic universe living in a dust particle on the tulip, in that world I am Councilman Chairman, and I'm also the villain in that world. Basically [saying], 'Everything's wonderful, nothing is wrong. Why would you think anything's wrong?'"

Ender7406 writes: on Sep 11 2007 03:40 PM Please, please, please, please, PLEASE let an asteroid hit the earth before this comes out. I cannot describe in plain words my disgust for the political and social issues that are SURE to take a forefront as soon as this film is released. Yes, Seuss had a thing against abortion. And he wrote a cute book about it. But turning that cute little book into what will surely be a propaganda machine extraordinaire is NOT what film should be doing with its time and money. Western civilization has enough to worry about without this absurd adaption. (Reply to this) |

polyrhythm07 writes: on Sep 11 2007 06:54 PM In reply to this comment (#1115553) This is very true. Most of Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss)'s were political or social commentaries. Dr. Seuss himself professes that 'Horton Hears a Who' is actually a meditation on the atomic bomb. Weird. (Reply to this) |

Prosper761 writes: on Sep 12 2007 07:32 AM Theodore Geisel is spinning in his grave. He fought all his life to keep Hollywood from bastardizing his hilarious and often brilliant children's books, yet before his corpse was cold, there was his widow, selling off the rights to people who have done nothing but make horrible movies out of them, all in the name of the almighty dollar. Disgusting! (Reply to this) |
