"Hostel 2" Won't Make January Release Date
This is why it's not always a good idea to announce a release date before production even begins: Previously announced for a January 5th release date, Eli Roth's "Hostel 2" will probably end up being just a little bit late.
The director told the following to Bloody-Disgusting.com: ""The January 5th date was never a reality. We sat down and looked at the production schedule, and I explained that in order to make that date we'd have to work 7 days a week non-stop and add extra people working around the clock. We all felt that this was not best for the film, and since it's not a major horror holiday like Halloween, we should make the best movie possible and then find the right date from there."

Boss Fan writes: on Aug 10 2006 02:54 PM Right on! Glad someone said it; although the geeks will come on and tare us a new one shortly. "Hostel" was soooo overrated and Cabin Fever was even worse; and that's when all this Eli Roth as the second (horror director) coming talk started. One word: "Pancakes!" Pffft... f**king awful! First half of "Hostel" (read: boobs) was okay, though. (Reply to this) |

gemini0577 writes: on Aug 10 2006 06:10 PM I agree with the sentiments... although I liked Hostel the first time I saw it. I do believe the film and the director are both over rated... and it must be an insult to other horror directors to have this "unorigional" director labeled a horror guru. He isn't all that great... and I have to say that I never watched Cabin Fever because the whole concept seemed too comical to be scary for me. (Reply to this) |

Meoff writes: on Aug 11 2006 06:31 PM I thought Cabin Fever sucked ,it was so stupid .I also am not a big fan of gore just for the sake of gore and no story . Thats why I wasnt very enthuseastic about seeing Hostel , but to my surprise I thought Hostel was great . If you havent seen it , its worth checking out . You might just find you like it . Movies everyone likes are called blockbuster hits .Like Pirates, Titanic, ect. Hostel never claimed to be a blockbuster ,its not for everyone . Just like most films , some people will love it ,some will hate it , and some fall somewhere in between . I guess there were enough people who liked it to warrent a part 2 , plus I'm sure its not that costly of a film to make . Say what you will about Hostel but I found it built up the story ,then the suspence , then kept up the tention till the end and to top it off , everyone got what they deserved . I really liked that part , I guess im a vengeful person, lol (Reply to this) |

ESotSM writes: on Aug 12 2006 10:50 AM I'd heard it compared to a snuff film amongst other things which of course piqued my interest. I saw the "unrated" version and wasn't impressed at all. The acting was unbelievably bad, none of the gore would've caused me to pass out, and it relied too heavily on cliches. I mean, seriously, how many more movies are we going to see where the cars are going to have the keys left in them? (Reply to this) |

There are many other films worst than this one . (Reply to this) |

Master King Sexington writes: on Aug 13 2006 12:32 AM In reply to this comment (#841942) Sure, there's always a worse movie than the one someone's talking about. There's probably a movie worse than Alone in the Dark, but that doesn't make it any better. And yeah, the acting, dialogue, and story as a whole was pretty putride. And they did overhype the gore. I actually found the Saw movies more disturbing. Just felt dumber after watching Hostel. (Reply to this) |

Meoff writes: on Aug 13 2006 07:56 AM So I guess its safe to say you all wont be seeing Hostel 2 . Just wonder why you cared enough about the movie to comment . I guess some people just hate a movie enough to make it almost like its personal . For me that movie is "Hulk"lol I found Hostel to be a great horror movie , and not just because of the gore but instead of it . It was a suspenseful movie after the first half which built up the story and the reason they were there .They wanted to exploit the countries they went to, just to find they were the ones being used and exploited. What I liked most the fact that unlike most ALL other horror movies , this could actually happen . That makes it more horrifying than most horror films . I cringed when the lead guy's fingers got cut off and I felt his pain when before he left he looked for them and took them with him so hopfully they could be sewn back on ,only to lose them later while hiding . Which is exactly what I would have done and to me that makes it one of the most realistic terrifying movies I've seen in a long time . The vengful ending was great also . But hey, why tell you that ? You all wont see Hostel 2 anyway . (Reply to this) |

Boss Fan writes: on Aug 13 2006 02:06 PM Feeling pain in a movie is a reason to recomend it? Not in my book. But I understand what some people want out of a horror movies, my problem was that, even thoguh the movie may have been adequate in that respect (and, of course, the boobs), it has all been doen and its kind of like who cares; about the characters or the outcome - which, like every other part of the movie, played out exactly as one would expect. Roth didn't exactly do anything new, different, or better than every other horror flick so what's with the semi-praise this movie got?!. It also just felt like gore for the sake of gore. And I guess beyond not loving the movie itself, I really hate that a mediocre (at best) director like Roth who, with two shity movies under his belt, is being championed as the next Tarantino; or at least the next Wes Craven. Remember people: "Pancakes!" Nuff said. (Reply to this) |
