Really? I hope so. I am Legend was one of the best books I'd ever read. I really want this movie to do the book justice. And by the way, Typhoon20, could you provide a link to whatever site said Richard Matheson approved it? I just want to make sure it isn't just a rumor.

Will Smith's addition to a movie acts as a sort of intellectual vacuum, automatically reducing what little, if any, meaningfulness the story may have contained. I Am Legend's chances of succeeding for me, beyond the level of typical B-movie trash, was permanently crippled when they announced him as the lead. This is just lazy casting; casting for money%u2019s sake, casting simply for mass appeal and not for the betterment of the film. The problem with putting Will Smith in a film is that he has a target audience that typically wants it's entertainment loud, obvious, short on plot, and about as complicated as 'Hot Pocket' instructions. Expect this movie to be ridiculous at best.
