A documentary produced on a dare by first-time filmmaker Chris Leavens, I DON'T KNOW JACK is a fascinating portrait of cult icon and David Lynch regular Jack Nance. Nance was a stage actor who was eventually cast by Lynch to star in his 1977 film ERASUREHEAD. He subsequently appeared in virtually all of Lynch's movies except ELEPHANT MAN; he delivered the memorable line "She's dead, wrapped in plastic" in the first TWIN PEAKS episode. An eccentric character in every way, his story is relayed here through vintage rare footage and interviews with his friends, which includes Dennis Hopper, Catherine Coulson, Lynch, and a host of other underground luminaries. Jack was the source of innumerable anecdotes as well as a constant enigma, and even the circumstances of his untimely death had a decidedly Lynchian undertone. All of these aspects are explored in candid depth by those who knew him best, creating a vital biographical record of an inscrutable, fascinating individual.
