With the help of two Existential Detectives, Bernard and Vivian Jaffe (Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin), Albert examines his life, his relationships, and his conflict with Brad Stand (Jude Law), an executive climbing the corporate ladder at Huckabees, a popular chain of retail superstores. When Brad also hires the detectives, they dig deep into his seemingly perfect life and his relationship with his spokesmodel girlfriend, the voice of Huckabees, Dawn Campbell (Naomi Watts). Albert pairs up with rebel firefighter Tommy Corn (Mark Wahlberg) to take matters into their own hands under the guidance of the Jaffes’ nemesis, the French radical Caterine Vauban (Isabelle Huppert). This existential comedy is directed and co-written by David O. Russell, whose first film, SPANKING THE MONKEY, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Sundance Audience Award in 1994. It also was named Best First Feature and Best First Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards. His second film was the acclaimed comedy, FLIRTING WITH DIASTER. Russell’s THREE KINGS came out in 1999 and appeared in over 100 critic’s top ten lists and won the Boston Film Critic’s Association’s Best Film of the Year. The film marks co-writer Jeff Baena’s first feature film screenplay put into production. I ♥ HUCKABEES features an ensemble cast that includes two-time Academy Award®-winner Dustin Hoffman (RAIN MAN, KRAMER VS. KRAMER), Isabelle Huppert (LA DENTELLIÈRE, 8 FEMMES), Oscar® nominee Jude Law (THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY, ROAD TO PERDITION), Jason Schwartzman (RUSHMORE, SPUN), Oscar nominee Lily Tomlin (NASHVILLE, SHORT CUTS), Mark Wahlberg (THE ITALIAN JOB, THREE KINGS) and Naomi Watts (THE RING, MULHOLLAND DRIVE). Producers on the film are Oscar-nominated Scott Rudin (THE HOURS, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS), Gregory Goodman (8 MILE, THREE KINGS) and David O. Russell, with Michael Kuhn (BEING JOHN MALKOVICH, WILD AT HEART) as executive producer. The director of photography is Peter Deming (MULHOLLAND DR., FROM HELL) and the production designer is KK Barrett (LOST IN THE TRANSLATION, BEING JOHN MALKOVICH). -- © Fox Searchlight [More]

Reviews for I Heart Huckabees
One brilliant, funny and generous film that exists somewhere between "Siddhartha" and Sid Caesar.
Russell flings ideas, but only sprinkles plot, at the question, and most of them stubbornly refuse to stick.
Too self-regarding to be madcap and too foolish to be profound, it's the sort of misshapen folly you'll stumble upon on cable (or the Internet) 15 years from now and wonder what anybody involved with it was thinking.
Both the best and worst thing about Russell's new film, I Heart Huckabees, is the way the filmmaker has completely bought into his own image.
For all its what-are-we-all-here-for frenzy, the forced and gimmicky Big Spiritual Revelation boils down to taking the good with the bad. And that's not worth the $8.
The cast is great in this vibrant, energetic movie with a philosophical fight at its core
Shakes your sense of perception and leaves you spinning out of the theater in a transcendental blur.
While Russell's movie doesn't quite capture the freewheeling dementia of [Charlie] Kaufman's output, it's still a noteworthy effort.
the kind of original, clever, off-kilter filmmaking that's easy to appreciate, but hard to like
But what does it all mean? Dunno and don't care, because there's nothing here to care about.
Some good characters and some funny scenes, and maybe some insights, but that doesn't add up to as much as it might have.
See I Heart Huckabees before your boss asks you to tell your Shania Twain mayo story and you vomit all over a meeting of the Board.
It's a spray of dots that never connect, like a Pointillist painting that never forms a picture.
Don't think about this loony metaphysical comedy too much. Just go with it and, chances are, you'll get it.
Russell is obviously working out his considerable angst ... but in an admirable attempt to opt for a manic, stream of consciousness energy, he ends up annoying his audience instead.
