Sony Starts Several Silly Sequels
Variety reported the other day that we'd soon be graced by Sony with a second sequel to "I Know What You Did Last Summer" -- and that's not all, folks. Raise your hand if you're dying to see sequels to "Hollow Man" and/or "Road House."
"Hollow Man 2" will be directed by Claudio Fah ("Coronado") and written by Joel Soisson ("Highlander: Endgame"), while "Road House 2" still needs a writer, but has a director in Scott Ziehl ("Cruel Intentions 3").
Variety wonders if these three new sequels will head direct to DVD; I'd be willing to put money on it.

The Senhman writes: on Jul 12 2005 09:34 AM With how well horror films, in general, are doing nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if the "I Still Know..." sequel end up in theaters. The "Road House" sequel, though, is probably headed straight to DVD. (Reply to this) |

csworky writes: on Jul 12 2005 10:20 AM It's About Time I am totally stoked that a sequel to "Roadhouse" is finally being produced. From my very first viewing I thought it had endless sequel potential. I always compared the Dalton character to Eastwood's The Man With No Name in the spaghetti western trilogy and the Carradine's Kwai Chang Caine from the "Kung Fu" series. A stranger traveling from town to town correcting their problems, it's so poetic. And the timing can not have been better, straight off of his appearance during AFI's Top 100 Quotes special, Patrick Swayze has never been hotter. This has been a time coming, but it has definitely been worth the wait. Kudos to Sony. (Reply to this) |

new12play writes: on Jul 12 2005 10:40 AM I always thought Hollow Man could've been so much more. But once again, they failed to reach my expectations for what an invisible man story could've been. Instead of a sequel that probably will have nothing to do with the original anyway, how bout come up with a new angle to the invisible man story...a horrific retelling of what the invisible man could be (it's what we don't see that scares us the most). getluv writes: on Jul 13 2005 07:28 PM i understand Sony for doing this. who cares if they are crap and are going to make $2 at the b.o. The DVD market is where Sony makes a killing on these terrible sequels. Wild Things 2 & 3, Cruel Intentions 2 & 3, The Skulls 2 & 3, Urban Legend 3, Sniper 1, 2 & 3, Starship Troopers 2. Sony is king of the driect-to-video stuff, i think its fascinating. Go Sony. Good business stratergy. They cost less than a CSi episode but make $20m. So when people stop watching them, then they will stop. to suggest that Sony is going bankrupt is stupid. (Reply to this) |

TheEidolon writes: on Jul 18 2005 06:01 AM Sony aren't the only guilty party.... I hate this idea as much as I hated 'American Psycho II' which was basically a bland teen slasher with Patrick Bateman's name in it. That was now it was supposed to end, and if the dumbasses at Miramax realise that they miscontrued the meaning of the actual book, rather than to cash in with a sequel that's not even a sequel, it might have never been made. Ah well, who gives a shit as long as soon 'film buffs' will rush out to buy From Dusk til Dawn 6: Lost Hope at Pointless Ridge. (Reply to this) |
