It really is good, albeit in ways that are different from other movies.

The movie captures, as well as any other, the feeling of partying into oblivion, minus the next-morning internal pitchfork stabs. Think of a wild friend you wouldn't want to emulate but can't let go of.

A fanfare for the common jerk that taints every '80s-era alt-rock soundtrack tune it touches, "I Melt With You" assuredly marks itself as one of 2011's most ludicrous releases.

After the halfway mark, it's too much, with director Mark Pellington displaying little intent to criticize.

Stylish cinematography and an awesome punk-and-new-wave soundtrack make the early, music-video-like montages of debauchery at least trashy entertainment, but the film's second half couldn't be more contemptible...

A weekend romp for four middle-aged buddies devolves into a drug-fueled, suicidal hell in Mark Pellington's ill-conceived and executed I Melt With You.
