The nameless butcher, just out of prison, looks for a new job. With each rejection he becomes more and more certain that the world is out to get him, leading to stunning acts of violence as the protagonist goes on a hate-filled rampage. Reviews for I Stand Alone
Noe deserves credit for a cinematic vision which is remarkably his own.
For all the static bleakness of his movies, Noe does have a sinful sense of play.
The real violence here, the far more deeply disturbing violence, is the violence inside the mind of the protagonist.
