This movie actually IS funny, and surprisingly subtle. Rock really adds to Rohmer's original with the layer concerning a suvvessful black man's situation in the white corporate world of which he can never TRULY be a part. Washington is gorgeous and Rock's co-workers are perfect in their roles. Maybe you are not ready for a black man in a sophisticated comedy about relationships that looks great and has a wonderful soundtrack.

I agree with the other comment. Exactly! It doesn't hit you over the head, but in inhabits more truths about race and everyday life that any other rom-com. Time wil definitely give this one a break!
