Japan's Toho film studio was renowned for its roster of post-war monster movies, especially those of director Ishiro Honda, who created the Godzilla film series with the help of special-effects director Eiji Tsuburaya. This collection includes a trio of Honda’s classic creature-features, presented in both their U.S. and Japanese versions as well as their original Tohoscope aspect ratios. In THE H-MAN (1958), a radioactive liquid turns people into slimy blobs that begin to reproduce and clutter up Tokyo's sewer system. In BATTLE IN OUTER SPACE (1959), humanity unites to fend off invading aliens in flying saucers. And in MOTHRA (1961), Tokyo once again faces destruction when a giant caterpillar crawls into town to save tiny twin sisters from the clutches of entrepreneurs out to exploit them. [More]
