I wanted to surrender to this dream; I didn't want to be out in the cold, alone. But I truly have no idea what so many people are raving about.

You are ALONE. Worry not though, Armond White shall keep you company.

Mr. Edelstein is a fine critic. His reviews are intellectual and eloquent. It is his right to dislike the film, even if you disagree with him, you have to respect his view.
Jul 13 - 02:44 PM
no he isn't. and no you don't.
Jul 13 - 02:56 PM
Agreed. Reread his review; sure it's eloquent to a certain degree, but not intellectual in the slightest lol.
Jul 13 - 03:08 PM
just watched it. no spoilers, i promise.all i'll say is, bashing on this critic is pointless. the film speaks for itself. it doesn't need any validation from this critic, or any critic to be honest. it's THAT good.also, thought it might be worth mentioning that the audience broke into applause FIVE times during the movie, and even gave it a standing ovation. and rightly so....
Critics like these really have no shame. Is the job of a film critic not to direct audiences to movies they think they'll enjoy - rather than writing a self-centered blurb complaining about why he didn't understand the film? According to this guy, I shouldn't have watched The Dark Knight, but would've had a much greater time watching Sex & the City and Twilight. Okay...
Critics are meant to serve the general audience; not themselves. Otherwise, they're just called bloggers.

David Edelstein is in the wrong occupation, here you go.http://www.tacobell.com/careers

Why hate the inevitable. The reason want this movie to succeed so much is because "the great movie" is dead and has been for the better part of a decade. Dark Knight was in my opinion the best blockbuster I've seen since the Matrix. People want this to be great because it's a completely original idea from a completely original film maker. We want to see the next Matrix, the next Star Wars, the next Jaws, the next...What's wrong with cheering on a movie to be all we want hollywood to be. Artistic, emotional, visually striking, fascinating adventures on screen. They just don't make those movies anymore, instead they drop 200 million on robot testicles and megan fox. So we have toolsheds like David Edelstein can't open up their minds and think through a movie, and applaud a filmmaker for taking risks and pushing boundaries. To call a movie bad when everyone else says it's great is close to insanity. It's okay to have an opinion, just not a wrong one ! ;) !
Jul 13 - 04:19 PM
How amateurish, a critic who uses ad hominum as a defense for his own stance. Edeltein has just lost all credibility for me and most of us.
Jul 13 - 04:31 PM
You guys are such nerds, stop bashing a guy just because he didn't like a Nolan film, god fanboys, it's called opinion.
Jul 13 - 04:54 PM
are you aware that you ****ted on the grade of this movie?? >:/it would be a 100% without your review
Jul 13 - 05:37 PM
At least he's honest.
Jul 13 - 05:43 PM
I guess you could say I'm a Nolan fanboy. I think he's yet to make a bad movie. I think The Dark Knight is a genre masterpiece. Blah blah blah. That said, lay of the guy people. A critic basically tells us if he (or she) did or didn't like the movie. This guy didn't. I'm sure there will be others. Not a big deal. The important thing is did YOU like it?
Jul 13 - 05:52 PM
Isn't, "Inception" a remake of, "Dreamscape"?
Jul 14 - 05:28 AM
you mean you couldn't understand it you dumbass

Jul 14 - 08:04 AM

Jul 14 - 08:18 AM
Try again. xD
Jul 14 - 10:00 PM
Nolan is bad director. His Dark knight was boring and stupid, really overrated.
Jul 15 - 03:41 AM
At this point, I am pretty sure that these so called "critics" are just trying to get their Armond on.
