So.. you watched this movie and left the theatre without a wonder in the world? just.. "i get it" ? maybe your right.. Nolan did make this movie too clean and clear, if someone with a sad little mind like yourself need only pay an admission to go into mental territories that are not self-attainable. You gave a movie that won 4 academy awards a negative review. You ARE general population.
It always amazes me how everyone seems to bash the Academy but when they award a film they like they suddenly become tastemakers. Weird dat. Thug if you think everyone who doesn't have the exact same taste in films as you has a sad mind and a small one at that, I feel for you. PS I'm totes on board with the whole how was Nolan NOT nominated wagon.
A. I didn't bash the academy awards prior to proving you wrong B. How could you possibly give a movie that is directed by a man that you think should have been nominated for best director (in that same movie) a negative review? C. It has nothing to do with my personal taste in films but with your inability to make any sort of sense. Next time you write a review.. which is hopefully never.. don't forget to mention that you think the director might deserve an oscar.
Deserves an Oscar cos they nominated the movie for every technical award and who orchestrated all that? Nolan init bruv. So it makes no sense. But whether his fancy orchestration or technical achievements make a good movie is another thing. Clearly I don't think it does. Shit name, shit comment.
So, this guy has nothing better to do than try to argue with the comment boards about their reaction to his review? They have their right to view his review poorly just as he does to view the film poorly. Let it go.
wow, this poor guy actually comes here to see who commented on his shit review. If Inception is to big and complex for you then fine. But your obviously not much of a critic because you gave "rotten reviews" to 127 hours and the King's Speech, so either your an idiot or just one of those people who wants to go against the tide for attention, but im banking on both.

It was an original great film, perfectly redifining a new sci-fi genre, much more interesting than popcorn and sciencetific orgasms we are so used to see.
Absolutely Agreed Andy!!! I just had to go and do the same thing after re-watching this film again. Anyone who did not like this movie does not know anything about good cinema and should stop watching. GREAT film, and the Academy should be ashamed for not nominating Chris Nolan for best director. Biggest snub in the history of the Academy's in my opinion...but thats another story...Fantastic movie!
Gareth, your review is spot on. This is one of the dumbest and dullest movies of all time. You cannot win here on Rottentomatoes. If you look at the other negative reviews, each and every single one is being attacked. Nobody comments on the positive reviews here. This means that the entire site is rigged and manipulated by Hollywood. I wouldn't be surprised to see that they employ people who operate under multiple accounts, and who do nothing all day long than bashing reviewers with negative opinions. They also get very personal with insults, because they want to stop you. Basic human psychology tells me: if someone yells so much, he has something to hide...
It just seems so immature and childish to bash reviewers and call them names. I think people should just say what they think about a film, and then shut up. I don't like dogs. I know many people that don't like dogs. Why would anyone attack me for not liking dogs ? The reason for my conspiracy theory is that there is so much money involved in making a movie these days, they have to make it back, or the studio will go bankrupt. Tell me, honestly, why would you call me dump or stupid or an idiot just because I like or don't like something you do ? It just doesn't make sense...
So you didn't get the point? Wow, that's amazing, and unfortunate I guess. If you don't like an explanation to what's going on to in a movie, then what makes this movie a 86% rating? Try reflecting on yourself.
And on Han S, you've been on other movies before. You also sound like a load of crap.
oh sorry Gareth if an incredible movie comes along, and a stuck up critic like you hast to ruin the mood for everyone, here is some advice, take the stick out of your ASS and stop being such a douche.
I completely agree with Gareth Simms. Your confusion, but eagerness to understand, exhilarated your experience with The Matrix (1999). However, Inception retains its "freshness". Such a folly can dampen the experience, but it surely does not destroy it.
I couldn't agree with you more. I left this film with "I get it!" But I don't think Nolan "got it" As a psychologist, I was ANGERED by this film. This film tried so diligently to be something it wasn't, and constantly explained itself. I think it is hilarious that ANYONE would find this film even remotely deep.
I'm with you on that. This movie was cool but change the cast slightly and it would have flopped. Look at Tron: Legacy, that movie was better executed, better looking and more interesting than Inception but got HORRIBLE reviews because people couldn't follow it or got overly focused on the father/son story.
Inception was a good movie but I think the general public rates movies like this based on if they make them feel smart. Inception's entire dialogue is mostly just explaining Inception rather than telling a story. The only real plot-line in Inception is about Leo's wife that he lost because she got stuck in a dream. The main plot is about planting an idea in some soon to be business owner so they can influence his decisions from the inside.
Tron: Legacy is about a kid who lost his dad because he got stuck in "the grid" and preventing a bad guy from escaping the grid/dream world to take over a company and therefore the world.
Same general premise and similar levels of complexity and fantasy but one won an Oscar and the other is labeled a failure of a classic franchise. The difference is, we expect Leo to win Oscars and we like it when everything is explained to us so we don't have to think. Tron is the same movie as Inception overall. So the litmus test to their success is only on our attention span and ability to deduce the plot or be told directly what it is and why it's "cool".
Gareth, I completely agree with your review and have boosted respect for you because of it. This movie was riddled with plot holes, and blew right past topics so it didn't have to explain them. I'm glad that not everyone in the world just nuts over this movie all day.

Good that you felt smart. Given Inception's popularity, many others must have had the same feeling.
The problem is that not all 93% of raters can be smart at the same time...
