It re-animates the thrill, not just the nostalgia, of old-school comic books and pulp adventure.
The soulless violence is a real problem. CGI is just awful wrong turn anyway, and the new-fangled overuse of speed and loudness to excite an audience is criminal. I think it sells short moviegoers who mey never get to experience, or recognize, the simple joys of a good story, played by good actors, created by real film artisans who labored to create rich emotional textures and atmospheres.
