In Other News:
- William H. Macy has been added to the growing list of Lindsay Lohan detractors. Asked by a reporter how it was to work with the young starlet (in the movie "Bobby"), he alluded to her frequently being late, which he considers disrespectful. This comes on the heels of the threatening letter sent by the executive producer of the upcoming "Georgia Rule" to Ms. Lohan that criticized her on-set tardiness.
- New Line has acquired the rights to "Black Dahlia Avenger," a book by former L.A. detective Steve Hodel, who will executive produce. "Avenger" details Hodel’s investigation into the infamous unsolved Hollywood murder, which is also the basis for "The Black Dahlia," the Brian DePalma film from the James Ellroy novel that opens in two weeks.
- It appears that Woody Allen has found his new formula, as he plans to use English-speaking actors for a movie about a love entanglement in Barcelona. He will write the script after finishing his next project -- another non-New York movie –- which takes place in London.
- Kevin Smith wants to make a horror movie. Not a "Shaun Of The Dead"-type of flick, but a real straight-forward scary movie, reminiscent of his favorites from the 1970s and 1980s.
- John Leguizamo, Hector Elizondo, and Fernanda Montenegro have joined the cast of "Love In The Time Of Cholera," based on the Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel. They join the already cast Javier Bardem, Benjamin Bratt, and Giovanna Mezzogiorno and director Mike Newell for the production which will film in Cartagena, Colombia and London.
- Nick Nolte and Mena Suvari will join Sienna Miller and Peter Sarsgaard in "The Mysteries Of Pittsburgh," adapted from the first novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon.
- Bernie Mac and his production company MacMan Entertainment have signed a two-year development deal with Lionsgate. The first project will be a concert film of Bernie Mac.
- The French World War II film "Indigenes" (Days of Glory) will be brought to North America by Weinstein CO. and IFC Films. The drama, which won several awards at the Cannes festival, follows several North African men who enlist in the French army to liberate France from Nazi occupation.
- Gerard Butler will team with Hilary Swank in "P.S. I Love You," about a grieving widow who discovers her husband has left her monthly messages to ease her out of her grief. This "P.S." is not to be confused with "P.S. I Luv U," the early 90s T.V. drama starring the great Greg Evigan and Connie Sellecca.
- Hong Kong star Stephen Chow will direct and star in the sci-fi comedy "Yangzte River 7," a parody of China’s Shenzou 6 space mission of last year.
