Wow, thanks Jen. A lot of writing.

I'm looking forward to FINALLY seeing Mongol.

. . .but I'm not so sure about Standard Operating Procedure. I just saw the fantastic "Taxi to the Dark Side."

I will be actually getting Indy this week, yep it was a big disappointment but it is still part of the series and enjoyable, I hope I have better thoughts of it this time around. I will be renting Mongol tomorrow. Thats cool about Quantum, which will definitely be awesome.

I'm also excited for Indy 4. Probably the worst in the series, but not nearly as blatantly terrible as everyone makes it out to be. 7/10.

Yeah I would give it a 7/10, the worst by far in the series though. I just hope my thoughts on it get better, and hopefully look at it on its own merit some day because lots of my disappointment came from the wait and how awesome the other movies are.

It was good for a big budget disney channel movie. Otherwise a disgrace. Anyone that says otherwise is a disgrace. Anyone who doesn't say this movie is a disgrace and that everyone who says otherwise is a disgrace, is a disgrace.

I really enjoyed it I'd definitely go along with a 7 or maybe even an 8. So yeah, I'll be picking that up. Also glad I'll finally be able to see Mongol. There's a good chance I'll end up picking up the Drive-In collection. Those are always good for a random movie nite with friends.
Anyone seen any of the Ghost House Underground movies at all, particularly Dance of the Dead and Brotherhood of Blood?
And lest we forget, Casino on Blu-Ray!!!

Dude, Temple of Doom was the worst. Crystal Skull was obviously different but it was still a decent flick. I'd agree with a 7 but the worst of the series? No.........

The ghost house underground films look good too i might rent them and Mongol. I'll pick up Indy 4 as well i also would give it around a 7 i think it was entertaining... except for that stupid scene with Shia swinging from the trees.

Where to start...I was pretty disappointed by Indy 4 but it's got a great DVD/Blu-ray package. Did you guys check out our concept art? Pretty cool.

It's nice to see people have interest in Mongol, considering it's a pan-Asian foreign film about Genghis Khan. War, Inc. was interesting, to say the least...even if I agree with the Tomatometer. Worth a look.

And how juiced am I to see that someone wants to check out the Drive-In collection? Makes all of that writing worthwhile, tomwaitsjr. I love those Crown International B-movies.

Jen, great article.

Indi 4 good but a dissapoinment: nuke frige, tarzan scene, ruber snake, waterfall, split legs in the jungle, i dont mind CGI but when it became unreal and distracting for the movie thats when the problem started for me.

Cant wait to see mongol, a fan a asian history and asian movies in general.

Skipping Indy 4. To me, Crystal Skull is to Indy as Enterprise was to Star Trek. There was some elements from the stuff I liked but it wasn't done right and was mostly unnecessary. I don't need to spend twenty bucks to hear George and Steven talk about how wonderful they are, how wonderful the movie is, and how wonderful it was to have everyone back. I'll save my money for a movie I really enjoyed, like Incredible Hulk and Dark Knight.

stop sugarcoating it, indy 4 was crap. the "haha, its indy...he's back!" scenes were WAY too little and the "oh my god, this sucks...ooooh christ it's actually getting worse" scenes just kept going and going and going. it was like watching jerry rice...when he was the 12th string wide receiver in his last years. it was a 5 out of 10, and thats giving it a plus 3 simply for being indy. it was Sith...kind of bad. buy the dvd and you're just encouraging more garbage to be released by lucas.

Oh look, it's the usual rapid "fans" telling me how much I should enjoy a film. Shocking. Meanwhile I'll happily live in my apparent delusion that I did indeed enjoy Indy 4 for exactly what it was, a good Sunday evening romp at the theater; it was easily far more enjoyable for me than the ill conceived "Temple of Doom". This movie just put a damn smile on my face, and that's enough for me. I look forward to adding this to my collection.

Damn why so many Temple haters, that was really good. Atleast it didn't have cgi gophers, cgi killer ants, tarzan, some clunky dialogue, and a nuked fridge. Temple actually had amazing sequences and just not a few good ones like Indy 4.

Seriously, I don't think this movie could have been abysmal to the point I would hate it. I've waited too long and believe too much in Indy for this. I gonna buy it tomorrow. But it's your opinion and I respect it.

Temple of Doom was the worst. Indy 4 was good except for Shia's goofy tree swinging and indulgence into humor only someone under the age of ten would find funny. Temple of Doom wasn't bad but it wasn't better than Crystal Skull........

You guys are all wrong!

The worst Indy movie was:

"Indiana Jones and the Mortgage Application of Death".

Though I will admit it got pretty intense when the Nazi loan officer asked Indy if he had any earnest money or subordinate financing.

Firstly, I liked the new Indy. Sure it could of been better. But what i hate the most about Indy 4, is how the haters TELL me i'm wrong for liking it. And that I'm not a true Indy fan for liking it.

Personally, I can look past the diffrences in time and film making, and accept that Indy is playing his age more. This is more believable, if he was his usual self it would have been amiss. I like how the story has progressed through the years, at times in Indy-4, he reminded me of Henry SR. And liked the way he was becoming more like him. I hope there IS an Indy 5. And hope they take the character more in that direction.

Sure some of the SFX were ropey, and some stunts. But complaining about the new technology is pointless. Have they forgotten the plasticine puppets from the mine cart in TOD? The heavy bluescreen lines around airplane and Zeppelin in Last crusade? A thousand year old knight living in a cave guarding a Jesus's favorite cup? A dripping flame from a match in a tunnel full of petrol under venice? Face melting angels in a god box?

Yet people scream "Hey the gophers look fake! Too many waterfalls! That kids swinging with... monkeys! Theyre playing Elvis music in the 50s! Hahaaha while i particularly dont care much for these scenes, they are undeniably Indy. Just more in line with the sequels, Raiders is my favorite and is completely believable right up till the Ark opening. But I like it still, because i am a true Indy fan.

..I am not sure CG prairie dogs = Indy bat-fink. Its not like prairie dogs are either a.Hard to find or B. Hard to film. Its simply bad film making. To each their own I guess. I am personally going to remain strong on never spending another penny on a George Lucas product after the atrocity that was Indy 4..not to mention SW 1-3.

If I'm doing my math right, then either the price of the Ghost House Underground set is wrong, the price of the individual movies is wrong, or the set includes some kind of bonus material that wasn't mentioned in the article. $19.98 for each individual movie should make the set of eight movies $159.84 at the very most. Usually box sets cost less than the sum of their components, not more.

Not a single threat of danger. Not a single serious moment. Only thing to save Indy is him being a professor, fights the schools secret society started by nazis who hold the SKULLS of the founding fathers. BAM. Anyone who liked Indy 4 is ruining America and the movies it produces. Deal with it, you have terrible taste. Not saying you're not allowed to like it, just that you have terrible taste. That can be argued back and forth, but I would simply say, "you liked Indy 4"

Well well Indy 4..what can you say, it's not as good as Raiders but it's better than Temple. I hear people complaining about how out of touch it was to mix E.T. with Indy ...but people come on. It's Indiana Jones!!It's like saying "boy I was shocked when Clay Aiken coming out of the closet" It's Indiana Jones folks..it is what it is.
Indy has dealt with the occult, supernatural powers, nazis melting, 1,000 year old knights, people hearts being torn out of their torso on fire! And never mind that whole "nuke fridge" scene, Indy "jumped the shark" 24 years ago when he jumped out of a crashing plane with a inflatable boat and landed in a river rapids. I can go on and on. Indy 4 good movie but no Raiders..compliments the other three. They just need to stop.

Jokerboy, I'll take your, what, 10 minutes worth of awkwardness, and raise you a horrid leading lady who ruins every single scene she taints, a cheesy, over the top, badly acted child sidekick, and a weak as hell villian. I like Crystal's McGuffin better, it's cast better, it's flow better, and it's overall spirit better. I'll give Doom the better action sequences, and more exotic locales, but that's about it. It's the only Indiana Jones film I just do not enjoy.

I'm watching Indy 4 right now after hating it to self-depression after seeing it in theaters. Now that I'm seeing it in the medium that I grew up with it in (home video), it seems like it really is just like the originals (in style and tone if not in quality). Granted, I have been trying to convince myself to learn to like it (Raiders and Crusade are my two favorite movies of all time and have been since I was 4); but now that it's in my collection, it feels like it really does belong there... so yes, I think it was mostly the expectations (and Mutt/Tarzan), and it didn't nuke the fridge as bad as I initially thought. Hopeful doubters should give it another shot.

This is how Indy 5 will turn out.
The villain will be a Karen Allen, Mark Wahlberg, George Clooney mix which creates hurricanes and Shia LaBeouf gets caught by a model robot who dates a British dude. Indy and Howard the Duck team up and use Morgan Freeman to hack into everyone's phone system and make Michelle Monaghan marry a doctor. Unfortunately one of Patrick's co-workers got drunk and had a baby with Zach while Miri was hanging with Two Face. Fortunately for Miri two face got distracted by some violinist chick. Then Jason forgot about the girl from Heroes and everyone went home. Then everything didn't make sense and George ran out of stupid movies to make bad jokes about.........
