Responding to a history lesson about the Holocaust, the students began collecting 11 million paper clips (a Norwegian symbol of Nazi resistance) to commemorate each of the lives lost in the concentration camps. As news of the Paper Clip Project spread through the Internet, the children found themselves aided by total strangers in their effort to build a permanent memorial to tolerance and diversity in their schoolyard. Filmmakers Elliot Berlin and Joe Fab document the project in their documentary, PAPER CLIPS, for a moving testament to Margaret Mead's assertion that "a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world." SAINT OF 9/11: In life, Father Mychal Judge affected everyone he met through his compassion. After his death on 9/11, even more people have been touched by his quietly heroic life. Narrated by Sir Ian McKellen, SAINT OF 9/11 is a biography of the New York Fire Department Chaplain. As a friar, Judge lived an authentic life that spoke of his love for others, even those many would overlook. Though many considered him to be a saint, he was a humble man, fully aware of his own shortcomings and sins. That awareness helped him to better identify with the people he met. This moving documentary features Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bill Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, Malachy McCourt, and other members of the community discussing the life of the man they admired. PEACE ONE DAY: On any given day, there are countless wars and acts of violence being waged all across the globe. When filmmaker and activist Jeremy Gilley set about to persuade the United Nations to create a global ceasefire day, little did he know that his visionary idea would launch a five-year, worldwide quest for armistice culminating in the first-ever U.N. International Day of Peace, now held annually on September 21. Gilley documents his inspiring journey in the documentary PEACE ONE DAY for a moving testament to the notion that one individual truly can change the world. [More]
