on Dec 24 2009 05:39 AM I think the satire was, in large part, the reason my father -hates- this movie. Then again, he lived through serving in the Korean War, experiencing the Cuban Missile Criss and the early stages of the Cold War, and the Washington D.C. riots during the Civil Rights era (he was one of the Navy SPs cordoning the Pentagon during a siege by protestors). Me? I love it immensely. I really enjoyed how it satirized McCarthyism and Cold-War paranoia and overcame both through the application of love and peaceful intent. The characters were all well-done, the voice acting excellent, and the visual style highly appealing. This is one of my favorite animated movies and likely won't ever leave my personal top-five list... (Reply to this) |
