But, dare I say, the flying sequences NEED to look more "fluent"(??)... They still have that kinda "animated feel" to them, especially when IronMan jerks his head to look at the fighter jet to his left (is it just me who feels so?)...

Besides, I would have like to see WAY MORE of the Gold-hitech suit rather than have wasted a large portion of the trailer with the prototype suit (but I guess that's why it's considered "teaser", correct?).

That said, looks like the director has put in quite some humor. I don't really know how I feel about that... since too much humor can ruin stuff (early, campy Batman movies? nuff said). I hope Jon Favraeu keeps the correct ballance on that one. It's tricky territory.

All in all, as a first teaser? Quite good. Could've been better though.
But then maybe, that's exactly the feeling the "trailer maker" wants you to stay with: wanting more, correct?

I really wasnt all that impressed with the trailer and that surprised me cause I was really looking forward to this movie due to the cast and director...the corny one-liners really didnt work for me and some of the stuff with the prototype suit didnt look that great...but when all is said and done im still looking forward to this movie and certainly have faith in the people making it

I dunno, if you want to go the cheese route figure that Stark gets captured to make a bomb, and HE MAKES A GIANT SUIT OF ARMOR INSTEAD.

I mean, c'mon, this isn't going to exactly be movie of the year here.

I dunno what some of you are bi*ching about that was an amazing first trailer for Iron Man !!! ... Robert Downey seems to play Stark flawlessly and the suits are looking pretty slick for not being totally completed yet . I am sure that the one liners will be a little more spread out over a 2 hour movie when compared to 2 min trailer so relax and I thought most of the lines were prety good . The plot seems solid , the attitude and style seem to fit the material , the short sequences i saw looked pretty solid and the effects look pretty good to me . Even to all the haters you have to admit haveing Sabbaths Iron Man Playing was pretty cool ...

LOOKS DAMN GOOD , CANT WAIT TO SEE IT ...

Hey, I thought that trailer rocked! That was a lot of fun to watch. I can't wait for the movie now.

Granted, it had cheesy jokes, but they really weren't that bad, and the flying scene at the end seemed odd, but hey, it's just a teaser, right? All-in-all I really liked it and I'm more excited than ever.

Downey makes a very different kind of Stark though. Not the serious sourpuss I'm used to in the comics. We'll see.

Not bad... Not terrific, but not bad at all. Sadly, the trailer messed up toward the last five seconds of the flyin' scene, so I don't even know how it ends. Ah, well... Still looks pretty damn good. And he seems to have good movement capabilities in the suit, so that always makes for interestin' potential.

Ya know, I kinda like the Super Hero cheesy type movies. We need them. Fantastic Four is a perfect example of that. Just plain summer fun! That's what I hope this one is. Leave the realistic super hero to the Batman franchise. If people try to copy movies like that....it turns out bad, usually! Don't forget, kids like the superhero movies too and a lot of them didn't like the batman movie as much as the originals.

Fantastic Four was a travesty. The desecration of Doctor Doom in those movies is enough to warrant a ban on super-hero movies forever.
But Iron Man does look promising. Downey definitely brings better acting to the arena, and I for one think the flying sequence looked spectacular. The humor seems to be more in the beginning with a more cavalier and arrgoant Tony Stark, until he is injured. I'll wager the film turns more serious after that. Which is what super-hero movies need. They need to be more serious; not too awfully so but certainly not as silly and ridiculous as Rise of the Silver Surfer and Spider-Man 3. They also need to be a little more faithful to the original stories. There is a reason why those stories have survived forty and fifty years. Iron Man seems to be doing that. But like someone said earlier: we'll see.

didn't know what to expect when I first heard marvel was making an Iron Man, but it does look promising. I hope they do have more of the newer version of the suit in the actual movie, but maybe they are just saving it for the actual movie. but overall looks pretty good, raised my expectations, what would raise them more is confirmation that samuel l. jackson is going to be nick fury in the movie.

just say, unfortunately as a dc man, that the dark knight will have a difficult time

All thing considered, I think Iron Man is in some trouble. I love RDJ and the suits look awesome, but as a series, a story, I think it's going to leave people yawning. What do X-Men, Spider-Man and Batman have in common? Villains we stumble over ourselves for. This movie looks like it's banking on how "bad ***" the hero is. Sound familiar? Ghost Rider? Hulk? It's a long list. Villains sell these movies. I'm a moderate comic fan, but I wouldn't know a Iron Man villain if he/she fell on me.

We'll see.

I think the prototype suite at the beginning of the trailer was a nod to the ORIGINAL Iron Man Suite back in the day. Looks like fun tho.

Trailers can make crap look like masterpieces. I am going to hold my judgments till I see it in the theaters. Personally, I just feel really sorry for whoever is actually wearing that iron suit and running around doing all of the action scenes. Can u imagine how freaking hot that would be? If they were filming in winter time, then the body would stick to the metallic suit. Who ever was doing the double for downey should get extra pay for having to wear that suit for a whole day.

The comic con footage was put together way better than this trailer. I don't like the choice of music at the start of the trailer (dont get me wrong, black sabbath gave me goose bumps) but they used that same crap song on the same crap spiderman movie trailer. It must be like...stock music from the marvel studio library. Whatever the case, I saw the comic con footage and it made for a better trailer.

All that aside, we know this movie will ROCK, we know Jon Fav is the BOMB, we know Downey is the SH$T and we know Jeff Bridges is THE DUDE and this movie is gonna own. Can't wait to see it. Perfect cast. Perfect director. Gonna be an awesome movie.

What one SHOULD expect people to get excited about when it comes to adapting an already-established comic book character for the screen (and count me among them those who are excited based upon what I've so far seen of Favreau's vision) is the realization that a filmmaker has committed to competently and accurately adapting the source material, which this trailer most assuredly accomplishes.

I think you're right, except that about 5% of the general public reads comic books, and if they want the movie to make more than $50 at that the boxoffice they'll have to increase the appeal and get more than just comic book fans who know the 'source material' excited about it. I like comics, I think this one looks alright from what I've seen, but I stand by my original post: the feel of the trailer was "check me out I'm badass" but the franchise is in its infancy. The movie isn't even finished yet, and I think they should market it in a different manner. I'm not going to get into name-calling, but I disagree with you on this point.

Although I am a comic book reader, Iron Man was never one that I got into, so I had no idea what to expect. I'd have to say that the trailer has me interested in seeing this movie, which is what it's supposed to do. I'll have to wait for the longer trailer, and get some more info on the story, but it looks like a fun film, if not a pretty good one.

i thought the trailer had two sides, the side before stark realizes he has a heart problem (jokey stuff), and after (serious part). i hope the jokes dont get too cheesy or last for two long, cause iron man isnt really a one liner kind of guy. also, i think the red and gold suit looks great, the grey one... not so much. the arabs/afghans/whatever looked way too cheesy. the movie looks kind of ghost rider-esque in the really stylized look of all the scenes (that didnt really make sense, but i though the movie would be a little grittier)... i thought it would be a little... classier. and the music was just awful.

so, over all, im pretty disappointed with this trailer. i had high expectations that this would be a mature super hero movie, but with the cheesy one liners and stuff, im not quite so sure. but im not going to judge the movie by the trailer, so i guess we'll just have to wait till 2008.

and after seeing this disappointing trailer, the dark knight has to be the most anticipated super hero movie of next year. the iron man trailer really just bummed me out, i thought we might see a classic comic book movie, but it seems faverau is just going for guts and glory, which is fine.

I'm pretty sure they used ac dc's back in black for the spidey trailer. not iron man by black sabbath which is a great song and if its for the iron man movie than why the heck not play the song i though it was great cant wait to see this one wished there was a shot of the villain though.

Guys, the big clunky iron suit is what Iron Man wore when the character first appeared in the sixties. Stark makes it using the tools and technology available to him in whatever war-torn country he's being held captive at the time (either North Korea or Vietnam). I doubt that he'll be wearing it past the Afghanistan scenes. As a long-time Marvel fan, I think it's really cool that they're giving the old school suit a nod.
The villain, on the other hand, seems to be using a big clunky suit. Which means he may not be the Mandarin, which is Iron Man's archnemesis. The Mandarin used mega-powerful rings he fashioned from alien technology. I didn't see any rings in the trailer.

And, for the record, I love the song. It was a dumb idea to be used in the trailer. It's cheesy and campy. That's my opinion and it is NOT fact.

I've seen better score pieces used. It would have been cool to just keep Filter's "Hey Man, Nice Shot" going. That's much more menacing and scary than "the greatest metal song" and even THAT'S debatable. There ARE better songs than that. It may be good but it's not the greatest.

A critique of any artistic work is a PERSONAL OPINION. Therefore, it cannot be fact. You need to learn the difference between the meaning of "fact" and "opinion" because they're two different things and you don't seem to realize that.

There are many metal songs that people believe are better than what YOU think is the best.

My favorite metal song of all-time is MY opinion. Black Sabbath's song being the best is YOUR opinion.

go watch the animated iron man movie that came out last year, its the exact same thing

with different people holding him hostage, but while he is held hostage he makes the

clunky iron suit (a nod to the first suit) he then busts out and has to make the new suit

and fight bad guys. RDJ is one of the best actors out there right now and Jeff Bridges is

the bad guy by the way and hes amazing as well as the rest of the star studded cast, as

for the song, its perfect for the preview and thats that.
